I really don't think a straw mod is advisable with this gun, or pretty much any gun that has decent airflow. On the Maverick, where the straw mod was originally used, the airflow is already greatly reduced, just by design, so eliminating dead space. For the minimal amount of dead space a straw mod on this gun would eliminate, the straw mod isn't worth it as airflow will be drastically reduced.

Thanks? Where did this random outburst come from? I have read about every post and I did not see anyone mention this 'straw' mod.

Anyways, Ice, just around 7 minutes in the video, in one of the handles there seems to be a hole in it. I didn't read anyone posting about it. Im just curious, what is it?

This gun magazine will change the way HvZ is played. Humans in groups have now become all but untouchable except to well planned surprise attacks. The ability to lay down that much foam with a non-vulcan weight weapon is game changing when indoors or for HvZ.

You can expect to see other guns with this drum as soon as it is made to hold other ammo.

It's like the recon: It holds an extra dart that's impossible to get out fast enough to provide any advantage, and has no purpose anyway, since it's a single dart for a gun that fires many in rapid succesiion.

Moving on, I'd like to have one for my indoor wars. Nothing more nothing less.*

*For now...

Dang, can't wait for that to come out into retail stores.

It's definitely going to replace my sucky recon.

Oh, really? Every post? Hmm...

Again, this is only with the Ars removed. There are still things he can do to it, like etape to compress the spring more, power stock, seal improvement, new breech/brass in the breach, lube, straw mod to kill some dead space.

Just a question... I have never angel breached a Longshot nor do I have a sufficient amount of experience with either the LS or the Recon, so please keep that in mind when reading this question. Anyway, could you angel breach the Raider and then do a straw mod to help eliminate dead space? Would this not work?

cheesypiza001 specifically asked a question about the straw mod, and MSDFS also mentioned it. Next time, before you decide to be an asshole, actually know what you're talking about.

Or indoor HvZ. :)

And MoonMaster, don't be an idiot. You are not a mod/admin. Let them handle stuff like that, because it's not your job. And I've seen people banned fro backseat moderating. Coltsboy29 is an example.

I wonder if any of you naysayers have yet realized how easy it would be to electricly actuate this thing for rates of fire faster than a vulcan.

Electric actuators are pretty cheap and easy to do electronics for.

Ready made assault rifle

Except for Longshot and recon lacking slamfire it could be done to either of them as long as it waited till you let go of the trigger to cycle

(Angel, if you do this, credit where its due)

I'm very impressed by this gun. I ended up trading my recon because I couldn't do jack shit with it. It didn't have the amazing ammo capacity, it didn't have the range, and I couldn't hit the fucking broadside of a barn with it.

However, the raider may just be everything the recon wasn't. And for once, I might have an indoor primary that seriously won't suck. The accuracy may still suck stock, but this gun is actually big enough that I can maybe put some loose-fitting brass under the faux barrel.

Also, Ice, can you replace the single metal cocking bar with something slightly bigger? Do the shells have enough room to allow two cocking bars on either side to be installed?

Edit: When you put in a drum magazine, does it tilt to one side? If yes, how much does it tilt? I'm a left handed shooter, so it would suck if the drum mag made it tilt to the right too much.

Looks a lot better than the original design seen here:

just go to the blasters section on the far left and click through until you find it.

Why is nobody realizing that you are probably going to be able to order the clips SEPARATELY, so you don't need to waste your money on just another recon.

Also, seriously, I think in the video you angled the gun, considering that the darts were practically vertical when they hit the ground. Even if you did, then 60' or so is still pretty good considering all you did was remove the AR. One more thing; an angel breech would be pointless just like on a recon because of the low air output.

For the longest time, they didn't sell Longshot / Recon clips independently in the stores - that's only a recent change. Given that this is a new product, I'm not holding my breath that they'll sell the drum magazine separately on initial rollout.

Besides, having more parts is good, right?

I made sure I had no angle at all in the video for the very reason that the ranges would be accurate. And I don't think this is just another recon. It's much faster to shoot then the recon, more comfy, larger, and has much more potential. I'm sure one of the better modders of the sight can squeeze 70' out of a raider.

EDIT: Painted.

That looks really good dude.

I'm going to have to agree. In fact, I've always loved ice's paint jobs.

For the longest time, they didn't sell Longshot / Recon clips independently in the stores - that's only a recent change. Given that this is a new product, I'm not holding my breath that they'll sell the drum magazine separately on initial rollout.

Besides, having more parts is good, right?

They probably didn't sell them because they either didn't think to or they didn't know if they would sell. Because (I assume) the clips are selling well now they have no reason NOT to sell them.

Because the ROF is just because of the fore grip (handle), the comfort of a recon can be changed, and larger is (generally) worse, I'm going to have to ask how, in any other way, it has more potential.

EDIT: Actually, after reading a bit more, I could see some potential for just about everything except range. Reverse plunger= shitty range.

EDIT2: could you please take some more internal shots, maybe some measurements/comparisons?

Your right bro, I guess I need to go buy a water color brush, a skin-tight work-out shirt, and 1 finger-less glove---that should help me out, right? If you even read my post kid, you would have read that I stated "mine are not the best". Chill out and focus on doing a better job on your own blasters. Agreed VACC. I Loled.

Anyway, I have been watching this from afar, and so far, sure it looks like a glorified Recon, but after listening to the most recent podcast with the talk of Recon guy, is that such a bad thing?

How much space is in the shell around the fake barrel thing? Could you cut that whole thing off and make a new "shotgun" grip that is closer to the main handle? Seeing as how the clip is on the side, there would be no need to have it pushed up that far.
