It's not really the ghetto part that bothers me. Honestly, I really dont think a night war outside is a good idea. I talked it over with some people, and it just sounds dangerous, and not worth the effort we would put into it. That, and the issues with minors being outside in the night. There's going to be plenty of great daytime this summer, lets just have wars then.

Dude, my hood isn't that bad. It really isn't. I'm honestly a little sick of this suburban ignorance that creates such a bad view of the cities. It pisses me off.

St. Paul isn't ghetto. If I feel safe walking around at night, a large group of us will only be safer. And besides, its not like its the east side or anything. And Highland would be even better. There are no minorities there, so we would only have to clear it with police.

Actually, what about hosting a night war on a campus? We may have better luck organizing something on, say, U of M or Macalester campus. Thats a possibility. We clear it with the correct people, make sure stuff is all cleared for safety (eye raping colors, reflective sheeting, glow in the dark, anything) and then all be tagged with some sort of reflective stuff, just for safety.

I would be pretty okay with having a night war on a campus. It's more separated and there is probably decent lighting. But at a regular park, like highland, there isnt enough light to play in the dark I think.

That brings up an important point about this war. I am really going to be promoting eye-raping blasters. People won't think we're up to trouble when we're running around with bright pink, yellow, and orange blasters. I am not going to be very accepting of realistically colored guns, PASs and RFDGs especially, so get your shit painted or covered in bright tape.

Thank you Venom. Seeing this made my day.

Anyone who comes with a dark colored gun will have purple duct tape and flagging tape all over it, regardless of how "it will mess with your guns looks". Newell is a great park, and I don't want to be banned from it because someone is more concerned about making something realistic.

But then again, with our crowd, who do we have to worry about? We love eye violation

We could certainly play on the U of M campus sometime, night or day. I doubt we would have any issues at all with campus security.

There is a nice park-like section of campus called the knoll area which I think would work well for a nerf war. If anyone wanted to, we could try a mini war there at some point to test it out. It is very well-lit at night. Parking is a bitch, though.

I would be interested in a night war.
Venom: St. Paul is not ghetto, Green Bay on the other hand is a different story... (Trust me)
It sounds like me and my bro will be able to make the war after all, getting a ride from Scott would be nice too. (hint hint)
Anyways, I hope to see you all there.

Okay okay you guys, chill out about the night war. I will get a thread up for a night test war after this one is over. But for now, lets keep our attention where it needs to be.

I'm pretty sure I'll be in for this war. I'm kinda curious as to which stores people go to in the twin cities to buy fbr. The Menards and Home Depot by me seem to only carry Frost King.

I get the "Dennis" Brand FBR from Menards, and I have found an EXTREMELY steady supply in the Midway. The gray wrapped stuff fits amazingly in PETG whereas the red goes well in CPVC. I have picked up and sold some to Venom in the past, and it seemed to work pretty well, I can get you 40ft for 6 bucks.

(This deal applies to anyone actually, but thats just the FBR. I will not make darts for people, unless we work out something)

And if anyone does take advantage of this, tell me atleast 4 days in advance...

Ditto to what Busta said. I side-step the issue of local sources and buy foam from people on the Haven.

See you all in a few days. I'm still planning on bringing cookies.

How are we going to do this defend the core thing? (If we decide to)

I'm thinking that someone should bring some big sheets of paper or saran wrap or something to cover the front of one of those plastic tub/container things, and duck tape (for holding it on).

Good point. I'll try and get something figured out this week. If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to post them here.

When we played defend the core we had a cardboard box with a hole cut in the front covered by a piece of paper. The box was secured onto a simple PVC frame. Only shots that ended up in the box counted. Ice Nine and Zorn were the creators. They'd be able to help you with the frame if needed.

For those of you who have nerfed with him before or were lucky enough to be around the forums when he was, Carrtoon will be attending this war.

Also, I apologize for my incessant posting in this thread as of late. I somehow got the impression that today was the 20th, so was just doing the usual release-my-excitement-by-posting-a-lot. I even made cookies.

They are now in the freezer.

Woah, Carrtoon is coming? Damn, I thought he was gone for good. That's really good news though, glad he is still into nerfing. Make sure he knows it's not at Highland though.

This war is going far beyond anything I've hosted before, so I think it is necessary to assign co-hosts. Kyle, Julian, and Ryan are my top choices. If you guys are willing to lend a hand planning rounds, and getting people organized, it would be very much appreciated.

Really excited for this war. My BBBB isn't cooperating, but my little bros SM1500 is done (it gave me a welt!), RSCB'd BBB may work, EaB awaiting a coupler, and sending cash for a new NF to mod fast.
For the few that don't now us, we're not related to that creep Nerfbros114 of Youtube, we're actually bros and ask anyone who knows us, we know how to 3rd coast mod (and Ice rant) with the best of them.
Also, we're seriously considering bringing watermelon to the war. Why? because we can, and watermelon is awesome when your hot and sweaty.
Oh yeah, my brother is hoping that there will be a sm1500 round.

...Not to shit on the parade or anything but, I visited the site today and it was packed.
There were people at all the picnic tables that I could see, the basketball court, the playground and the pagodas were fully occupied.
The only usable portion of the park would have been the corner next to the baseball diamond and the LARPers (south-east corner), it has lots of trees but nowhere to setup or chill.

Backup locations?

(I'm guessing that Highland would be the default but, There's a park barely a mile from there that would be good enough; Langford park [on google maps].)

I could get pics of the park if anybody asks.

We could always go back to Highland. I knew that Newell Park was going to be packed. It was pretty crowded the last time I was there. Keep in mind it was still cold outside.

I rather move the location then having to deal with children and other people getting in the way.

It would be nice if someone who lives near Highland would be kind enough to check the bulletin board near the pagoda. If it's already booked then at least we don't have to find out the day of the war.

I'm not the host obviously, but we should move the location.

This is what I was afraid of. You guys are definatley right though. Seeing how packed Newell was even a couple months ago shows a war of this scale is risky especially now. They are both suitable parks for a war, and I don't want SPANO ruined because we wanted to play at a better park.

THE LOCATION IS NOW HIGHLAND PARK.

Paul: Langford Park looks decent. I think we should have the next war there, but I'll stick to Highland for this one. And don't feel sorry for shitting on the parade. I'm really glad you told me that. It takes some dissapointment to make things good in the end.
