Just got this from a google alert:
NERF N-STRIKE RAIDER RAPID FIRE CS 35
(Ages 6 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $34.99/Available: Fall 09)
As Hasbro’s iconic Nerf brand celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2009, get ready for the highest dart capacity NERF blaster yet. The NERF N-STRIKE RAIDER RAPID FIRE CS 35 is the next big thing from NERF’s popular N-STRIKE line of dart blasters and features a collapsible stock and new drum magazine that holds 35 darts and is interchangable with the NERF N-STRIKE RECON CS-6 and NERF N-STRIKE LONGSHOT CS-6. By holding the trigger and pumping, players can instantly transition between “single” fire and “slam” fire mode, unleashing a rapid stream of 35 darts. Complete with a removable shoulder stock and Tactical Rail System allowing players to customize their blaster for each mission, the NERF N-STRIKE RAIDER RAPID FIRE CS 35 also features a cool “digital camo” pattern unlike any NERF blaster before it.
Since this mag clip is compatible with the longshot (and recon, but who cares) it would be safe to assume that the clip (at least the part going into the gun) is not gravity fed. I don't know how they did it, but I am sure glad they figured it out.

From the handle, the stroke is tiny. Shame. I hope it's at least 3", so we can get a solid, sealing breech on there.

There is some kind of black-looking follower taking up two of the possible 36 spaces around the drum.
Actually, the "around" part of the drum has 31 spaces.

I'd say more like 1 1/4 times the length of a streamline, which would translate to barely over 3". Anyway, watching the video gives a pretty relative look at the stroke. That was mainly how I determined that it was tiny.

Keep in mind, Split, that the mechanism which pushes/pulls back the plunger tube could most very likely be attached at the front of the priming handle, extending the stroke by another good dart length or a bit more.
No, it would be the same, no matter where it is attached. The front and back of the priming handle move the same amount, the front cannot go any farther in relation than the back can.
Just think about it for a second, it should click.

1. Digi-camo? its so hard to see thats a fail........but nothing some paint and a brush can't fix right Naz?
2.I love that drum magazine....Always wanted to turn my recon into a Riot gun but onthe raider,it looks like if you hit it off a door way or a branch or something...well no awesome drum magazine for you (aso dropping it doesn't look like it would help either)
3.Overall this gun is way better than the last two N-strike guns with this much fanfare *cough cough* RECON,VULCAN *cough cough*
So stop with all the "new Recon" crap. This thing definately isn't a Recon, I'll wager my soul. Someone can quote me on that if they'd like

Word, true 'dat (I say and flash an unintelligible and non-existent gang sign)!! For my own personal Raider, I'll probably just sand all that crap off, but if I get two, or someone wants it painted up, it would be interesting to do all those little bits of texture up in a real digital camo pattern.

That being said, looking at the gun itself, it looks like a Recon with the clip mechanism rotated to the side. The rear of the gun looks like it has a similar plunger set up, but I bet you can put a new spring behind it in the stock with a little dremel work. Not too impressed with the stock ranges from the video, but lets face it the clip is what we're all excited about.
As for the other guns in this thread, the 10 round drum ones look promising especially if air powered, and I wonder what new saftey features will be added to try and thwart our modding efforts. The mystery pistol by shoes and swords puzzels me, but I'd agree that it looks like it may have a pump, and therefore reminds me of the old Super Maxx 500.
Guess I'll just have to wait like everyone else to find out how good these guns are.

Dude, use the recon pistol sized (with all the attachments removed) with the new clip will be awesome. A 35 shot 'pistol'?
Seriously, though, this looks to be all about the 35 shots, I just hope we can get the drum by itself, because the gun itself doesn't seem promising in terms of performance. At least not compared to the longshot.

I guess nobody else read the whole article as it was posted in the nerf championship thread.
2 new blasters are described. The furyfire, which we have pictures of, and the stormfire blasters, which are not well described. The article also confirms some things about the raider.

So here's a theory about how the last few darts get pushed out of the big old drum clip. The last two spots in the clip hold some sort of black plastic device that I would bet is a two part follower to push last few darts up. I imagine that when it reaches the end of the drum it flips up into the part that looks like a normal LS or Recon clip, one half staying down in the drum, the other pushing the darts up, and both connected by a spring like that in a standard LS clip. When reloading the clip, you don't rotate the drum til you've pushed enough darts down for the follower to be pushed back together.
You sir, are a genius. I just assumed the two black things were spaceholders to prevent the torsion spring from completely unwinding. I never imagined that they were connected together via a spring and would thus form a movable/rotatable follower.

it would be interesting to see ACTUAL digi-camo on it....

it seems like NERF is shifting most of its NERF basters torward their Dart Tag Line...
EDIT: Sorry for the double posting didn't mean to.

Bob's mechanism is a two-dart wide follower attached to the the rotation mechanism inside the drum. This didn't make much sense given the yellow flap protruding from the mag allows only 1-dart width of rotation and movement at a time.

No one is twisting your arm to read it.
You never know... I could see VACC doing that... Have to agree though. It's probably laundry day at Slug's house, and all that was left in the dresser were the grouchy pants.
