So I left nerf for a bit but I'm back and searched but didn't see anything about whether or not the vulcan pegs in the chains were needed to advance the chain or keep it locked or whatever. I remember some discussion about it a few months ago but didn't see an end to it... Thanks for your help.

The pegs inside the chains that darts fit onto? I heard of alot of people drilling them out with no feeding issues.

No, the pegs are not needed.
Am I the only one who uses the sig function for a sig?

Ok, If I remember correctly the ar or some piece of it locked into it... Thanks. I still dont feel like taking apart my vulcan so this will be the only mod so far.

I was wondering where you went...No, its absolutely fine to take out both the pegs and the AR. Just watch for the grey rubber gasket around the AR, thats what seals everything.

A lot of people drill them out and have no problems afterwards.

I completely agree! Other than the fact that it increases range (by 5', but that could mean the difference of hitting someone or your darts falling short) you may also be able to load stefans. During a recent nerf war that I attended (Fall CAFF, or "Fall 'geddon") a disadvantage was that I was not able to load stefans, which (amazingly) do increase the range of the vulcan by another 5' (10' total!). Now alot of people are saying to "drill" the pegs out. This is completely O.K. if you have a drill. But for those of you who do not have a drill or want to save time can use those "clippers" to take out the pegs.It is definitely advantageous to take the pegs out of the chain. It is much less clear whether taking the a/r out of the main mechanism is worth the effort. I, for one, do not intend to bother.

Hey- the nerf "reply" system sure has changed..
Anywho, yeah not sure how good anyone is anymore (as if I ever did) but be careful taking it apart, if you do so that is. It was a bitch to keep everything together and not loose anything. But this helped- http://nerfhaven.com...topic=12589&hl=
