This is a little off topic, but I'm sorry that my thread caused so much controversy.

CaptainSlug I really think some of the stuff you make is cool but latley you have been a real fag.

And some of the newer members have lately been acting like entitled know-it-alls who can't take a single word of criticism in a mature way. And in response to it simply lash out at the person that offered it.

Carrying and trying to use more than one blaster at a time simply doesn't work out all that well in reality. I have yet to see anyone play effectively with more than a single blaster with a secondary holstered or integrated into it. You NEED a free hand for reloading, priming, and maneuvering over obstacles. Without a free hand you're going to find yourself wasting a great deal of time switching hands, futzing with carrying straps, and trying to keep all of your blasters loaded. All of which will distract you from paying attention to your surroundings and make it more difficult to sight and fire quickly.

I have tried all manner of weapon load outs at 8 different wars and I keep arriving at the same conclusion: That using just one primary with a single smaller lighter secondary is the most comfortable and effective arrangement. I always lasted longer and scored more hits in rounds when using the more simplistic arrangements.

If you disagree with what I have observed over the past year, then fine disagree. But if all you can retort with is "you're a fag" then you don't belong here. This board is about open discourse and constructive criticism with the occasional smackdown of those that seem incapable of managing the previous two.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

I have a maverick integrated into my ls, and they both fire from the same trigger. You can prime the ls and fire or prime the mav and fire, or you can prime both, but I doubt I would ever do that. I am also making a foregrip for the ls which will be right in front of the mav slider, so I will be able to fire my secondary shot just by moving my hand back to grab the mav slider (which is positioned like a foregrip).

Looking at this thread makes me understand and see who Nerfs in the "traditional" sense, outdoors and with "real world" conditions, and who spends more of their time in front of the computer on forums, if not playing a first-person shooter most of the time, or plays indoors amongst the living room furniture.

"Alternate fire modes" reeks of a video-game addict's attempt to bridge a gap between Nerf and gaming, which in my useless opinion, has absolutely NO correlation except that both forms of play shoot something. That's it.

Most of us who criticize multiple-weapon carrying and "alternate fire modes" do so, only because in the years we've been out and about, have tried it and found it to be counterproductive to our styles of play (and though I've never nerfed with anyone here, can truly say that we play in the same style). For me, straps and harnesses ended up in broken weapons, fumbling for a sling-mounted backup primary, or a delay that would have been quicker for me to just pump and reload my SM5000.

I, and the folks I play with, have one fire mode. Prime, shoot. We've played "fort", and sat in one spot with blasters all over the place, that worked, but it sure as hell was boring. Even my kids thought it was boring if we weren't dashing around the yard in battle

If you disagree with what I have observed over the past year, then fine disagree. But if all you can retort with is "you're a fag" then you don't belong here. This board is about open discourse and constructive criticism with the occasional smackdown of those that seem incapable of managing the previous two.

In short, you know the ropes. Suck it up, or don't let the door hit you on the way out. Not just ej, but all you new members who think that there's "free speech" here. There isn't. Accept it here, or leave. Call me what you like, I've been insulted way worse, doesn't bother me.

But it is better to keep your mouth closed and let everyone guess that you're an idiot, then to open it up and remove all doubts.

I'd just like to confirm from my personal experience that carrying more than two nerf guns at once is a laughably ineffective way to play. Having a free hand is really important because it allows you to reload quickly. Not to mention the fact that if you trip and fall, you can stop yourself. When I would carry three guns around, I would drop one at least once during a game. Not good if you're under fire or running as fast as you can.
All this talk of "alternate fire modes" smacks of Quake. You should dedicate as much space as possible to make the PRIMARY firing mode be effective enough to work in all situations. With the exception of a trusty at2k in a hostler, I carry one weapon at a time, and it seems to work well enough for me.
Having a single primary and one secondary isn't boring, or uncreative. It's practical. In nerfing, the most practical solution wins.

Look at my signature! I was going to add a shotgun to the foamslinger too, but decided it was fine w/out it.

(The shotgun was my shotgunnized 2k.)
