$10 to the first person to integrates it into a longshot?

Or, even better, combines it with a longshot AND a titan, to create the Unity ULTRA System!

Ugh, speculation.

It would be like an extended clip magstrike, but with an infinite bladder (battery).

I think you're confused. There's nothing infinite about batteries.
And unlike batteries, you can much more easily "recharge" a pneumatic tank with muscle power.

I would prefer to have seen them come up with something that doesn't involve a belt and is driven by pneumatics. Hopefully they replaced the old chain design with something much more durable. I'm still not keen on the idea of a chain feed system though because it makes the resulting blaster rather awkward.

I am Far from enthused by this.

I mean, If I want to carry around something bulky that uses up 6 D batteries, I'll bring my DG-20 with me, because then I'm Da Boom King!

Who said its pneumatic? I thought it was battery powered everything.

Sounds gay, I hate batteries. A airsoft battery would be way more efficient.

If its as bad as it sounds, maybe you could hide in the shell and pop out!

Considering it's powered by 6 batteries, I doubt they'll die exceptionally often.

I see this gun as being situationally amazing. Though I wouldn't use it for assassin when i'm raiding a house with 1-2 targets in it, in situations where multiple targets are present I imagine this bad boy's room clearing ability will be valuable.

6 D batteries can generate quite a bit of power. If the batteries are used to actually launch the darts I don't think it will be too shabby. My clan mate won't stop talking about how far his MT20 shoots when he used 4 D batteries. I still don't think I will have much use for this, I'll stick with my RF20 or MS.

Personally, I was really excited to see a chain gun coming out. I have always wanted a Razorbeast, but they're too expensive to get with a decent amount of chains, plus I heard they are the worst of the 3 chain guns. I really like the crank over the push-pull though.
When I say the battery part, I was pretty pissed.
But I guess there could be potential, batteries don't automatically mean something like the Tommy 20. It could pull back a plunger like in many Airsoft guns. The only real way to find out is to just wait.

Even if it does pull back a plunger, How much can we strengthen the plunger? Even if we can strengthen the plunger how much slower would it fire.

Batteries? Makes me sad.

"NERF N-STRIKE VULCAN EBF-25"
EBF = electronic belt fire?
At least Vulcan is a cool name.

"25-dart belt-fed fully automatic blaster...Six "D" batteries are required (Ages 6 years & up/)"
This gun will be weak. Flywheel gun + chain to jam + 6 year olds safe = weak gun.

"fold-up tripod"
Like the one on the Longshot? Because the Longshot used the same wording. So I am thinking that the chain will go in the middle of the gun with tripod and fly wheel in the front and batteries and trigger in the back.

"Tactical Rail System"
They are sure pushing this on all of their guns; maybe they are going to release a red dot scope in a pack like the green dot tactical light?

"Approximate Retail Price: $39.99/Available: Fall 2008"
$40 bucks fits with Nerf price scale for a gun that is electronic and large.
Also the fall is a long time away.
Lets hope they have something better coming out at the same time or that the chain works on the older chain guns.

I don't think the chain would work on older chain guns. This fires micro darts, the Razorbeast, Roto-trak, and Chainblazer all shoot megas.

It's also not certain that this will fire via a flywheel, SPU-Nerf. It's possible, but I really hope it's not.

I think the concept of this gun sounds great for indoor wars. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun for people playing games like HvZ. As far as for those who Nerf in the outdoors, I doubt it will be of much use.

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

I told you so.

I think that it will be like the speedloader in that the batteries bring the plunger back. But anyway, if not, there are still a good number of ways to modify electric guns.

This is NOT good in my opinion. I mean, everyone knows what happened to the CSHG.

The more I Nerf the more I'm considering the underlying premise of this weapon to be counterintuitive to the spirit of Nerfing itself.

I think that the same thing will happen here. Too heavy a gun, too big a ROF, too impractical.

The funny thing about speculative posting is that everyone appoints themselves as prophet, judge, and jury, and declares said blasters as crap and junk... Cap'n Slug's post notwithstanding (he feels it may be counterintuitive to the spirit of Nerfing, he didn't make a judgment call on the blaster itself).

$39.99 too expensive for an electric blaster? Many of you parents spent fifty bucks on the N-Strike Disk Shot when it came out; basically a NiteFinder with a different shell and electronic doohickeys... so cost isn't a factor for you pee-wees who beg and plead with Mom or Dad for funds.

The skinny is simply this. From a consumerism standpoint, it may turn out like when the first N-Strike Unity Power Systems came out... much anticipation, and to our delight, good, sound blasters (even the Scout is fair)... and everyone liked them.

Or it can turn out like the debut of the Firefly and Dart Tag guns, a bit disappointing (Firefly), but satisfying (Dart Tag system), and everyone still buys them from time to time.

It can turn out like the Longshot, a tad pricey but still having everyone's desired attributes (clip-fed, bolt action, douche bag pseudo-assault rifle look), and despite needing more than amateur modifying skills, is probably one of Nerf's popular and better-selling items.

Look at the Recon. It's proof that Hasbro's engineers are astute to what their consumer base is talking about, and their R&D team is doing their homework. What I'm saying is when it comes out, either you'll like it, or you won't, but bottom line is many of you will be buying them anyway, and that's what's important.

Who knows? By Saturday everyone might be able to see what the Vulcan looks like and make even more snap judgments about it until Fall. <_< Betcha most of you buy one when it's released.

This old guy pretty much stays "old school". All the new releases I buy for my kids. SuperMaxx and AirTech series all the way!

Is there anyone affiliated with this site in anyway that has the time on Saturday to go take pictures at Hasbro's NY Office?

Cap'n Slug's post notwithstanding (he feels it may be counterintuitive to the spirit of Nerfing, he didn't make a judgment call on the blaster itself).

He was quoting my post which was actually my own comments concerning the impracticality of my design. I'll wait to form a complete opinion when I know more about how the Vulcan actually works, but my intuition tells me that it's not going to be a terribly useful weapon for typical Nerf Wars. Like you said, geared towards the purchase motivations of the average consumer and not us.

Interesting, Nerf markets the Vulcan as the biggest baddest blaster ever. Is that to be taken literally?

I don't care how weak the ranges are. When these come out I WILL buy two of them, about 16 chains (assuming they sell them individually) and a couple of large 12V power sources, get together with my electrical engineering buddies, and squeeze every ounce of juice out of it until I can get 60' ranges and then employ them in my CTF games. One turret per base (when playing with only two teams) and when I'm playing slayer I will have a freaking heavy battery back pack and dual wield these beasts. I don't care if it's effective, it will be fun. And that is what NERF is all about!

Most likely. They advertise the Longshot as the longest (and it is), so we know that they take their superlatives seriously.

I think this blaster is being judged too much in a class that it is not in. It comes on a tripod for and is a belt fed weapon for pete's sake, of course it going to be heavy, awkward and bulky, it's probably not meant to be carried around the field. I hope this weapon isn't subject to too much judgement before someone actually has their hands on it, like the Recon or various others.

I agree with Forsaken angel. Battery power, if moving in a belt like I think it is, is to loud and never results in a good gun. Take the tommy20 for example, not made by nerf, because it sucks. Close to no mods and way to noise to be practical. I think this gun is a bust, unless the disgin turns out to be different then what I'm picturing.

If they don't sell extra chain, i'll be pretty ticked. This thing sounds perfect for indoors. Finnally, a new gun that DOESN'T use streamlines. My asaultees won't let me use stefans.
