I have built a few launchers; One was a water powered "RPG," a pneumatic with no math behind it or anything, and a failed super soaker. The pneumatic has been out of service for a while due to a cracked tee... I know I still need to get around to fixing it or salvaging the parts... And maybe getting the super soaker working...
The SGTC was my home, then Joel shut it down. I felt homeless without a place to speak my mind or talk about my techy ideas. Spudfiles helped fill the void, but I just didn't seem to fit in as well. So I took a plot at Theopia, same guys who runs Spudfiles, and I've mainly been there ever since. Even though Spudfiles is for balistics in general, there's still a modification and balistic talk at Theopia.
Come to think of it, the spudtech forums was were my 'foruming' got kicked off. It's really interesting to look back at your older posts and see how they change over time. Hell 1500 posts at Theopia since November '05... There's been a big difference there.
Sorry about my online biography there guys...

Please note that I too am stepping back and refraining myself from what I would like to say, but I do have to respect your authority on your site.
I see, my gratitude is in order, is it not?
The Spud gun argument is a silly one. The objectives of spud gun construction are very different than those of nerf modification or even nerf homemade construction. To argue which methodology is superior is a moot point.

Alright, I'm gonna step back and refrain from doing what I would very much like to do right now. Instead I'm going to explain this to you a little more slowly. I did not say that your claim was impossible, I said that it was unsubstantiated. You cannot prove it at the moment. What that means is that you are arguing on a purely he said she said (that's you jackass) basis. I won't have it. It really has nothing to do with weather or not I believe you, it's just pointless, and more than that it's fucking annoying. So here's the deal: you can discuss the mod you did to it all you like but you will not argue the range until you have whatever proof you say that you eventually will. If I see you arguing the range before then (even once) I will mute you until you email me to tell me that you have it, unmute you for 1 day to produce this video, and then ban you if you fail to do so. That's it, end of story. Continue to discuss your hideous longshot.
So, when I read that, here's what I heard: "Pizlo, you're an obnoxious twit. I want to ban you, I really, really, do. But first I'd like to humiliate you by allowing you to insert your foot even further into your mouth. And by the way, your mod is hideous."
I seriously laughed out loud for over a minute when I read that...Man I wish I could sig that whole paragraph.

I suppose I only mod to get a bit of an edge in the kind of mini war like things I play. accuracy and add a bit of range, to me a nerfgun is just to experiment and try to max out. If I can get something to work, I'm still happy if its covered in ductape and unpainted epoxy. I cant say nerf is one of my pastimes, or that I take alot of pride in my work. It works and I did it on my own, that good enough for me. something I will invest time in for good looks is spudgunning, but that stuff is a bit to advanced for this general crowd.
I'm a spudder.
I take pride in what I make... and I've made two of my five attempts in making a decent spud shooter... all pneumatics.
If you make your spud shooters like you did that Longshot, I'd be worried too, as far as craftsmanship is concerned. I mean, if you just used hotglue to attach your 1/2" PVC pipes to the bolt handle and little pistol pump handle, I don't see it lasting too long in a serious warring situation.
Compare (yes, you must) your work to that of say, SPU-Nerf, who did his mod two years ago...

There's a notable difference in craftsmanship, and it too, is a pump action mod.
Yours is original, no doubt. But VACC's comments aren't too far off base.
About the NiteFinder; I look forward to you're putting us in our place for our skepticism. Most everyone else who claims things that are pretty outrageous basically tries to back down when asked to prove it. Some (like Tytus Gerrish and his compressed air RF20) actually made and showed off what they claimed they had. Others have yet to show anything to this day. Most of them leave.
I got a NiteFinder to go almost 200 feet. But it shattered when it hit the parking lot.
(Humor borrowed from NerfMonkey)
And finally, if you don't like what VACC is saying about your work, you also are free to leave. After all, this is HIS site, which he co-owns and pays for annually. There are other sites you can go to that aren't so harsh. This is, after all, NerfHAVEN.
Dang, dude.... I fell out of my chair.Continue to discuss your hideous longshot.

That's part of his job description. But in this specific instance he didn't say anything that was unwarranted.VACC you were kinda harsh on him
If you can't handle criticism, then you're in the wrong forum.

That is his right to do as such. Never question or reprimand VACC. Never.VACC you were kinda harsh on him
I'm waiting for the NF as well as VACC. I'm curious.

So yes VACC has the win for today, but Its still undecided until I post the proof to make you skeptics believe me.
And no even If I find I cant break 150 I'll still post to show how close I got. I've never actual measured, so there is still a chance I cant do it, but hey If i cant I'll hook up a sprinkler to the NF and blow the dart to kingdom come, would that count?
Oh and VACC my mod is ugly, but hell, I haven't seen one mod from you posted here.

I suppose I only mod to get a bit of an edge in the kind of mini war like things I play.
Now let's (briefly) compare Nerfing to spud gunning. First off, you don't mod spud guns, you build them, and you build them not to have wars with, but instead to launch projectiles into forests and such.
Semi back on topic, you did a mod with the resources you had, and you did it for your intended use. That alone deserves a pat on the back. BUT, you also shared it with the community to try and give us some new ideas, and demonstrated that you don't need an overwhelming amount of tools, materials, and time to do a practical mod.
My conclusion, it's a decent mod, but don't bash the NIC (or admins for that matter)... Or else.

Yes I guess that was my mistake. Imagine this thread if only I had left out that one little sentence about the NF. Well whats done is done, and I will be interesting to see the end result, Won't it? I mean one of us will get owned pretty badly Either way, so there will be some good laughs. My conclusion, it's a decent mod, but don't bash the NIC (or admins for that matter)... Or else.
