ok, these are basic pictures of my loosely fitted spring gun and my breech.
I anyone has made a breech like this I would like to know..
breech.
overall basic design...
No trigger, plunger or anything else shown, Im working on a fairly complex triggering setup just because. snapbow type trigger would be sufficient for anyone who does not fancy themselves as a Redneck Engineer.

1/2in type M red copper is thinner than normal and fits loghome foam perfectly.
Actually the air will make 2 180deg turns and do all sorts of other stuff, I do not think it will make a difference with a 1in plunger tube and the springs Im using.
I am interested seeing this completed. Though i must admit that I have no idea what you are doing, because of the limited scope of the pictures. Could you provide any designs?

Looks VERY interesting, especially with that base on there now, but like other people have said, How is this going to work? Will the entire plunger mech be housed in that bottom piece of PVC? Anything else seems like it would make the gun too bulky...

The JSCB barrels work like this, except with a second chamber for a clip effect. You should look into it, seeing as how you were trying to create a clip design.
That is one sweet looking shell you found! Care to spill what it is?
I believe that that's the phaser toy gun that can be found at KB Toys. Where the PVC is is normally a big red tube that lights up when you pull the trigger. I'll buy the light tube off of you Badwrench if you don't want/need it. It intrigued me in the store, but the price tag for the entire piece put me off.
As for the gun.. I can't really see any practical way that you could make this with a solid plunger.. That stroke is like what, 14" long? That means you'd have 14" minus the compressed spring length sticking out of the front of the plunger tube, which would also make the gun hard to prime. That would also make the trigger mech very complex, but you seem to already have realized that .
Oh hot dam. I am getting myself one of these for Christmas. Please finish! The whole SNAP/Crossbow thing was getting old and this this is in a totally different direction. I want one of these more than (insert sexual comment here {I'm leaving it up to your imagination})
It reminds me a bit of the AR from halo, but then again....
Oh, and can you post a link to the "BUZZ BEE 50900 Glo-Lazer" I'm having too much trouble finding it on the internet.

-Cpvc that's been under your home for 10 years can shatter. New Cpvc doesn't, unless you enjoy violently beating your gun on a tree. -If you could figure out how to strap a Vulcan as a hand replacement, that would be sweet. I would just stop there, and run around calling myself Mega Man.

ok, the SNAP is so good only because its tried and true for wars, but I completely agree. So many people have done it now, and not alot can be improved upon.
I like the shell. I also like the idea of a new project. Wondering if i should show the plans to mine *grins*
misplaced my SD card for a week.... next time Ill check the printer first....
this is an aluminum arrow shaft, a 1L Pepsi cap, 2 3/8th washers and a lock washer. there's a hole in the middle of the pepsi cap with a washer inside it. The bolt is the same thread as a broadhead and 1in long. put lock washer into slot on end of bolt and filled cap with hotglue... the washer allows me to tighten the cap if the threads ever work their ways lose.
I put a piece of 1/2in long 3/4in FBR on the end with some hotglue and then greased up the plunger tube slightly, I lowered the plunger so it was about 1/4in lower than the edge of the tube and ran a bead of hotglue around the edge. when the hotglue was 70% cool I popped it out making a perfect plunger seal.. I'm not sure if the hot glue will hold up, but its all I have for now.... I will use RTV sealer next try.
My first idea for a catch and trigger failed miserably so I had to make up somethign else. Im going to use a simple snap trigger to catch on the washer.. I have not given up on my other trigger, just ran out of time.
filling in some dead space.
Looking DAMN good, and the guns nice too.... very comfortable...
I really like that shell, and I'd like to do something with that and the Halo looking rifle from TRU. I also must say that I aspire to be a goofy old man that plays with toys too. I mean absolutely no offense by that. I've loved toys for my first 20 years, and I hope I feel the same for the next 20 and the 20 after that.
Don't be sorry, its a legitimate and expected question..
I have tested the main assembly with good results but I do not have the time or money (to buy kerosene) to finish it quickly. Im so excited about finishing it that I have made several stupid mistakes causing me to redo a few items. I busted another bandsaw blade last night so my trigegr assembly was finished with a scrollsaw and belt sander.
I was laid off work all summer and just got called back a month ago, gonna get laid off agian in a few days so I will have the time needed..

bogboogalars, its all your fault!!! jk
Could anyone here have told me an aluminum arrowshaft would break in 2 places??
now what do i do? Carbonfiber arrow shaft maybe??
I had expectations of all sorts of things going wrong but never a damn arrowshaft breaking. this was used in my 70lb compound bow with no trouble, should I maybe find lighter springs?? they are #51s

Arrow shafts just aren't designed to take that sort of stress. Usually the string is being held back by something else (a hand or a trigger) and the only stress on the knocked arrow is the normal force against the bow where it's resting. It's designed to not shatter when it hits a target, but the targets it hits are usually fairly absorbent.
You have a lot of available options ranging from metal rods and tubes to plastic rods and tubes. Most of them probably won't cost as much as an arrow shaft either.
I think my problem is overkill, the barrel is too long, the plunger is too long,m the springs are too long... KBtosy closed on me so I don't have access to another glo lazer right now so I guess I will retire this project until I get more ideas.... the rifle is well balanced and comfortable, it shoots 60 ft or so (been cold and windy out and my garage is only 56ft long). It just needs a little more oomph.
Happy to have found this thread. I also have the glo-lazer and am hoping to make it into a bolt-action springer. If I'm successful we can compare notes. Any tips before proceeding?
This is very cool. I am wanting to do this. Maybe instead of getting a new glow laser gun you should make a PVC shell and put a handle on it. Just an idea.
