#134083 Modification and Paintjob Pictures

Posted by bobafan on 27 December 2007 - 11:57 PM in Modifications

I made this tonight in about an hour.
I used PVC, putty epoxy, parts from my old erector set, and one of my minimized couplered NFs.

I am still saving for my +bow, so this is my current primary.

I reduced and integrated a triple torch I just used hot glue to attach it because I want to be able to take it off. It makes for a nice little backup shot.
Posted Image

PVC bolt action I made. It has broken off twice, but this one is alot better than previous versions.

I have been working on this and a few other guns in preparation for the Cincinnati war.

Primed with old plunger tube.

It is a Defender T3 with a Lightnin' Blitz epoxied on it. I would have done the whole integration, but I couldn't figure out a trigger since the valve needs to be pushed. The T3 had a tiny plunger tube, much shorter than the plunger could handle, so I made a new plunger tube out of 7/8" pvc pipe. The new plunger tube is 6 1/2" long, giving the gun tremendous power even with the fairly weak springs on it. On the ond of the plunger tube, I have a coupler, so ROF is very good.

The ranges for the T3 average 119' banded and 97' not banded.

On the lighnin' blitz, I put on petg barrels, as you can see and plugged the pump.
At 20 pumps, here are the ranges.
35' 53' 54' 64' 65'

I didn't think I would finish this today, but here it is.

I've never seen this done before. I don't know why.
The actual speedloader is pieces of pvc epoxied to a piece of choroplast.

I've been asked how I got the water droplets, so here ya go.

I used a technique I saw on the show "how it's made" to make the droplets. You basicly paint the base layers, then spray on some water from a spray bottle. After that, lightly mist the piece with white. The paint will be collected in the droplets and flow to the bottom of each drop, because paint is heavier than water. After that, put the piece near a heat source and wait for the water to dry.
Voila! water droplets.

I'm still working on stuff for the cinci war, this is the newest version of my 6 shot NF.

The turret is hexagonal, opposed to the previous ones which were round.

The mod. The only thing I did differently was to use a piece of sintra plastic to cover up the hole in the front instead of hot glue.

#173866 Lancer

Now just to get one major thing out of the way. The breech system and plunger assembly are all the same as my original Longshot modification.

Also, read this. You might last longer here.

If you want to see his face, go to a war with him. It's that simple.

How powerful is the motor in the chainsaw? Does it continue to spin when you attack someone, or does it seize up?

#147193 Modifying A Longshot?

Posted by bobafan on 26 March 2008 - 09:32 PM in Modifications

I've never heard of jigaloo, but you want a silicone based lubricant. Not petrolium or other organic base. They can eat away at the plastic and get to smelling funcky.

MAke sure the bolt sled assembly is completely pressed into the form fit plastic grooves.

#179250 +bow: Diy Thread

Posted by bobafan on 24 September 2008 - 12:25 AM in Homemades

So with the new parts list, does 75 only buy you enough to make one, or will there be surplus parts to make another?

I added up the cost of materiel for 3 and got around $120 plus shipping. Cost of the materials for one was quoted at around $90 plus shipping. (that might be from rev 1)

#154442 +bow: Diy Thread

Wow.
I'd rather shoot myself than be barrel tapped by that.

How smooth is the inside of the plunger tube? If it looks like the outside, it seems like it would file away the o-ring(s).

Nice job.

#179242 +bow: Diy Thread

Very nice writeup, as always.

I have two questions.
1. I was wondering a bit about the handle. If I'm looking at this right, the two 1/4" pieces are about 1/4" apart. How does the gap feel comfort-wise?
2. This is for anyone with a +bow. How does the front grip feel? It seems like the edges of the grip assimbly would be a bit uncomfortable.

Thanks

Is there any way to keep the screws from becoming loose other than using ones which are self-locking?

Is the use of an ice pick a serious suggestion?

An ice pick or dental pick is what I used to poke through the electrical tape. You could probably drill through it with a really small bit instead.

Ok, I was thinking like this:

that makes more sense.

#146951 Where To Buy Modding Materials

Posted by bobafan on 25 March 2008 - 07:30 PM in Modifications

ACE, Home Depot, sometimes Lowes, pretty much whatever hardware store you have around you. These stores don't always have the same inventory, so the only place that will consistantly have springs is an online store such as McMaster-Carr.

#172932 Baghead's Maverick Mod

Lol sorry to carry on the necromancy, but re-necroing an already necroed thread! Lol!

Well guess what. That kind of post is also against the CoC and he at least had a genuine question.

#172872 Baghead's Maverick Mod

It's better than if he had made a whole new thread.

Did you replace the catch spring? It should be about an inch long and like 1/6" diameter.

All of the parts will be painted once the gun is complete.

I think the clear pieces look cool, so people can kinda see how it goes together.
I dunno, just my opinion.

#124800 Abp5k

Posted by bobafan on 02 October 2007 - 04:59 PM in Homemades

Do I see two layers of polycarbonate for the trigger guard of did you bend it somehow?
Also, Is that a lanyard loop on the base of the grip?

#126430 Abp5k

Posted by bobafan on 16 October 2007 - 09:16 PM in Homemades

Planning to throw that longshot scope on it? I think a red dot scope would function better though, but seeing a ls scope on that would be hilarious...

I think the LS scope looks like crap. It makes it harder to aim than without.
Also, He already has a set of wonderful iron sights. Lasers can be difficult to see during the day.

This thing looks awesome.
I like the lock for the folding stock. Is it spring-loaded or does it snap into place somehow?

#123705 Abp5k

Posted by bobafan on 20 September 2007 - 07:38 PM in Homemades

How will you carry the HPA tank? It's not really big enough to strap to your back like low pressure air tank.

When do you expect it to be assimbled and in working order?

I have a fairly technical mind, but there is no way I could figure any of your great projects out by myself.

I just hope I will be able to see them in person at some war.

#212972 New Raider CS-35 Speculation Thread

Posted by bobafan on 17 February 2009 - 01:47 AM in General Nerf

I've got something to add to this dungheap of speculation.
http://www.pr-inside...ic-r1059012.htm
I guess nobody else read the whole article as it was posted in the nerf championship thread.
2 new blasters are described. The furyfire, which we have pictures of, and the stormfire blasters, which are not well described. The article also confirms some things about the raider.

#137002 +bow

Great job, as always.
Do the small cuts in the end of the barrel serve any purpose, or is it purely cosmetic?

#136321 +bow

Posted by bobafan on 17 January 2008 - 11:07 PM in Homemades

As is stated by the author of that instructable, the laser is very weak and could only be used for cutting dark paper. Transparent plastic is quite a lot harder to cut. The laser he used was from a DVD/CD writing drive.

How well does this plastic take paint?

What type of adapter will be needed to attach our barrels to the end of the blaster?

#140464 +bow

Posted by bobafan on 15 February 2008 - 05:00 PM in Homemades

Is there any particular reason the coupler on the top +bow is shorter that the others?

#133330 +bow

Posted by bobafan on 21 December 2007 - 08:06 PM in Homemades

Awesome!
Those pictures are without a barrel, right?
I don't see any sights. Are they hidden or are there not any in the CAD?
What is the function of the U-shaped piece with a hole in it at the muzzle?
The foam handle is a nice idea. It sounds comfortable.
What is the diameter of the plunger tube?

Even at $90, it is cheaper than a x-bow and I would be willing to pay it.

Nice job.
