Pearson PTEG is a perfect tight fit in the stock barrels. All I have to do is remove the "just-in-case" e-tape and give a yank to be able to fire arrows.

Going to mess around with different springs for this, when I can finally bring myself to stop playing with it.

Shell cuts are from the previous owner.

It's almost too heavy just with the couplers on for the rotation to work right.
And even when it did work right, 5 foot ranges, glad I tested it before making all those barrels and clips.
I'm going to revisit this at a later date, I just dont have the time or patience for it anymore.

MODDING TIP: Dont even bother trying to assemble one of these the same way you took it apart. Put all the internals in the opposite side of the shell, then close and flip over to put the screws in.
It will save you so much time and effort, you will not belive it.

Fraternal Twins:
Posted Image

Well, technically one is a Airzone Tri-shot or whatever its called, but I pulled the sticker off, and now its a Lanard Shot Gun. Has Lanard molded into the plastic and everything.

Turreted version has standard things done to it.
-Full travel on the plunger rod
-Glued rotation mech
-Rear loading
-3/4 PVC in the rear loading holes
-Screen door spring + half of a Stink Blaster spring
-Craft foam on the plunger head. I used the spring rest as a template for the foam, not realizing at the time it would flare the plunger head PERFECTLY, 99.9% seal.
-Reinforced everything, plunger rests, priming bar, catch, and turret roation bar.

Posted Image

Hoppered version is my original turreted one. It broke, twice, so I decided to hack the shit out of it.
-Front cut off to just before the plunger rests
-Plunger tube flipped so the air outlet is at the top.
-Reinforced shell, plunger tube, plunger tube rests, catch, and priming bar.
-2 full tubes of E-putty used to reinforce everything.
-Stock and sections of screen door and Stink Blaster springs.
-Full travel on the plunger rod
-Full draw, hits the 8th notch.
-Screws cut off in the front have been replaced with bolts.
-Front heavy as hell.
-Homemade wye.

Posted Image
Needs cosmetic work on the front, bad.

#277107 Homemades Picture Thread

Posted by cheyner on 07 June 2010 - 08:31 PM in Homemades

As fun as HAMP's are, they are a pain in the ass to transport, and mobility becomes an issue if you are not in a wide open space. I have an answer to this:
Posted Image

I call it the Mini Mega HAMP.
Only 2 feet long (back to barrel tip).
Shoot's 2-3 dart at a time.
20 shot hopper clip (it's as long as the HAMP).
Petg nested in red Pex.
Plunger tube is 3" PVC.
Homemade wye.

#276537 Homemades Picture Thread

Posted by cheyner on 31 May 2010 - 09:24 PM in Homemades

What? No HAMP's yet?
Posted Image
5 minute $2 HAMP
Found at a dollar store (Dollarama for you Canadians), it is basically a foam covered plunger that was originally intended for water.
Has a plate on the front that lets you select from 1 jet of water, or 4 streams.
All you have to do is glue a coupler on the front and plug the 4 small hole's in the process.
Posted Image
No need to open, just glue on a coupler and you are done.
Not really a homemade, but it has the spirit of one, that, and it is bright green.

#275013 Homemades Picture Thread

MEGAHAMP
Posted Image

"Naked"
Posted Image

Triple seal with wooden spacers on the plunger.
Posted Image

Homemade wye, as they are pretty much impossible to find in the great white north.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Notes:
Shit load of hot glue used (around 40 sticks), she's sturdy.
The seal is almost too good, you either need to be pretty strong, or fairly tall (leverage) to use this one.
Also, a tip for anybody thinking of making a MEGAHAMP, make sure it fits in your car before you finish it, this one was close.
Dollarama tape is better than Home Hardware's.

DA MAMP (Dual Action Medium Airflow Manual Plunger)
Posted Image
Posted Image

Push the handle to fire a shot, then pull it back to fire another.
Uses 2 10 shot RSCB's that vaccume load.
Built to prove that the design works, fires in the 50 ft range.

#307961 Where To Buy Modding Materials

Posted by cheyner on 01 December 2011 - 06:45 PM in Modifications

Alternatively, most stick lumber comes in tarps, a few questions towards the right people should get you all the tarp you need, for free.

Any store that sells lumber should be able to help you with this, no problem.

Depending on what you need the thin-wall PVC for, the tube used for central vac piping is 1 1/2 O.D. and fits over 1 1/4 PVC with a bit of a gap. It isn't the strongest though, so I don't know how well it will like mechanical fasteners.

Edit: I double checked today, I lied, it is not 1 1/2 O.D, it is 2" O.D..

#275965 Diy: Hopper Clips

Posted by cheyner on 25 May 2010 - 07:14 PM in Darts and Barrels

If you make your own wye, you could play with the angle to get streamlines to work, say a 35 degree angle. Also, on my MegaHAMP, I found that I NEEDED a dart stop, no way around it, otherwise on the pull I was sucking darts backwards.

#276009 N-strike Barrel Break Ix-2

Posted by cheyner on 25 May 2010 - 11:10 PM in News

Looks up you can break open the thing.. Look at the screws in the pictures....

Oh, you mean like a Barrel Break IX-2? That would be crazy.

It looks like it might even have 2 plungers in it, which would be interesting to see, reverse or not.

#295527 Dartsmithing Tips Archive

Posted by cheyner on 07 March 2011 - 08:05 PM in Darts and Barrels

I still think they are a little thin, at least by the look. What thickness of foam are these? Say... 1/16"? I think that I would probably use at least 1/8", probably 3/16" if I could. Really good idea with the leather/gasket punch.

The great part about craft foam is that it is so cheap. It is still a much cheaper option if you double up 2 sheets if you dont think 1 is thick enough.
My local Dollarama has similar sized packs of craft foam for $2. They have self adhesive as well, but I am not sure of the size/cost.

I might actually try making some slugs now, seeing as I cannot find felt tips locally.

#327834 2013 New Releases Mod Contest

Posted by cheyner on 09 March 2013 - 02:56 PM in News

Excuse the stupid question, but for the factor of release dates, are there any regional considerations? For example, the Stockade has been released overseas pre-2013, but has yet to be officially released in the US.

Considering the number of modders across the Pacific in particular, I thought some clarification might be helpful.

Not just overseas, we have had them in Canada since at least Christmas.

#310322 Wrist Mounted Flywheel Gauntlet Blaster

Posted by cheyner on 29 January 2012 - 08:21 PM in Homemades

Bringing the Quick 16 to mind, you should maybe move away from having it be a drum shape. Make it more of a gradual spiral shape to accommodate the large head on taggers. You could also make your clip larger this way as it would be spiraling up your arm, limiting clip size to what you are comfortable having strapped to your forearm, you could go pretty much all the way to your elbow.

#310085 Wrist Mounted Flywheel Gauntlet Blaster

Posted by cheyner on 25 January 2012 - 04:14 PM in Homemades

The tube magazine could work, use a end cap with a hole drilled into it so you can attach some vinyl tubing. Then simply run it up your arm and to a clip on the neck of your shirt, simply blow to load another dart.

#304529 Nerf Vortex Praxis Spring relocation

Posted by cheyner on 09 September 2011 - 11:23 PM in Modifications

I did this last night to both a Praxis and Vigilon, and I am quite impressed.
I suggest buying the refill packs with your blasters though, the disks can be hard to keep track of when they start ricocheting.

#318245 N-Strike vs Vortex

Posted by cheyner on 09 July 2012 - 05:52 PM in General Nerf

It definitely requires some brain calibration. The flight path of the discs varies widely depending on how you tilt your blaster, and are especially prone to curving mid-flight. I suppose you could use that to your benefit after a lot of practice, but for now it seems like only a hindrance compared to the reliable trajectory that darts follow.

I find that is actually one of the stronger benefits of using Vortex blasters. Nobody knows where the disc is going, where with most non-streamline darts they follow a mainly linear trajectory, making them easier to dodge. I have started carrying my Praxis with a 20 disc mag on a sling, along with my primary. I find it fairly effective to spam a few disc's at somebody and pick them off with my primary while they are dodging the disc's.
