#54834 The Right Barrel For My Gun?

Posted by kickass jb on 13 May 2005 - 10:12 PM in Modifications

So in other words, for my spring pistol I'm looking for any giving barrel that I will have to use a ramrod to get the bullets in but not so tight that they will get stuck?

#54828 The Right Barrel For My Gun?

Posted by kickass jb on 13 May 2005 - 09:02 PM in Modifications

Good point. But I was thinking about the whole case of spring guns and air volume and friction, the technical mumbo jumbo. I ALWAYS test fit my darts first but I was hoping for an answer based on the science (if you want to call it that), behind the barrel choice.

#54821 The Right Barrel For My Gun?

Posted by kickass jb on 13 May 2005 - 07:08 PM in Modifications

I have bought these two non-nerf pistols from walmart that shoot sits darts sort of a revolving system like the ATs. It's a plunger gun with about the same plunger size of NF. I was wondering which type of barrel would be the best to shoot micro stefans. PETG, brass, PVC or crayola?. I read up on CX's article but it didnt give me much on micro stefan shooting pistols.

#54718 Does Amazon Ship To Canada?

Posted by kickass jb on 12 May 2005 - 04:38 PM in General Nerf

AGHHH, I just tried to do it all and right in the end it says it can't ship these guns to Canada. Anyone know any sites selling an RF20 and NF (mainly RF20) besides ebay that ships to Canada?

Anybody know if Amazon.com ships to Canada? It says U.S. protectorates but I have no idea what that means.

#54699 Most Over/under-rated Guns

Posted by kickass jb on 12 May 2005 - 02:49 PM in General Nerf

I agree with Matt on the under-rated gun, DEFINITELY the SS1 (secret shot one). With so many easy possible mods you can do it it, including the tri-barrel I am currently doing to mine, it's a great overall gun. Love it for rushing. Second runner up is the EaB I have two of them and with the simple mods on them, they are one of the more preferable guns everyone at my wars want dibs on (I have about 90% of groups total gun count).

For the most over-rated gun I'd say the crossbow. Sure it's an awesome gun and with some practice can make you kill just about anybody in a war, but the thing is, practice with just about any gun can make you kill everyone in a war. And for 50 bucks, I'm pretty sure I choose to practice a little more with my AT3000 or my BBB (which I find more preferable to the x-bow anyway) and even my EaB. Second runner up for that is the LnL, it's a pistol...want distance, go for an NF, cheaper and easier to find. Want versatility, go for an SSII (sharpshooter 2), I don't what anyone says, SSII is a great all around gun.

#54571 Hi Long Time No See Guys! I'm Back! ^^

How did you mod the charger 600 (orange and beige), did you just cut of the restrictor and stick brass on?

Wow for that orange and beige pump it charge it water gun you have, I'd be interested in the stats/mod because I have one just sitting in my shed.

#54556 My Shotgun Prototype

Posted by kickass jb on 10 May 2005 - 07:23 PM in Homemades

Okay I was playing with this super soaker of mine and for some reason this idea popped into my head. What if instead of the hinge or whatever, I make the pump part of the gun and make it solid with dowels/tracks for it to glide on the bottom and two things on the top to cock. Then in the middle where the gap is between the two barrels because the couplers, I put a tiny bar or something thats got a stick through it so it pivots on that spot. then it'll go a little ways up and have another tiny bare (nail or something) through it thats connected to the gun and then the stick goes up a little farther. So when I want to open the barrels, I pull back on the handle on the top of the gun and the barrels slide forward out of the coupler and I load the darts then press the gun handle forward and the barrels lock into the couplers again. What do you think? If anyone needs clarification I'll do my best to draw something up.

I was thinking maybe instead on the hinge maybe like a thick copper cable wire so that I could pull it out and shove em in but the wire would be strong enough to support it?

The brown piece will prevent you from cocking it unless you are holding down the trigger when you cock, I think. Not positive. To fix that I think you should have it at an angle so the bolt slides over it.

Actually I was thinking more of stealing the idea from Boltsniper and having the coupler on an angle. With the PVC I buy, there is already a coupler on the end that has a nice gentle angle to it.. that'd do it.

#54500 Need A Good Combo

Posted by kickass jb on 09 May 2005 - 05:00 PM in General Nerf

does anyone know of a way to make a homemade belt for the rototrack?

You probably could with 1/2 in. pvc. If you but rubber washers on the end and connected the pvc with duct tape.I'm going to try to build one for my rototrack.

No good, I tried and the PVC is too thick.. I was thing maybe PETG wrapped in electrical/duct tape, then connected via duct tape. I dunt have any PETG but it's an idea for someone who does.

I don't think I should make a new thread on it because I've made enough this week already ( I know it's only monday) but does anyone know of a way to make a homemade belt for the rototrack?

#54491 My Shotgun Prototype

Posted by kickass jb on 09 May 2005 - 02:48 PM in Homemades

Image shack is gay, heres a damn link to my idea of how to fix all three of your points. Can someone try and host this? My idea

I like the loading idea but is there some sort of angle where the stefans slide up, because I think it'd be awful hard for them to with out it? If so, wouldn't they all just be pushed up at once and jam? My last point, the stefan "clip" area is open in the barrel so alot of the air from the plunger would seem to travel in there and be wasted.

#54489 My Shotgun Prototype

Posted by kickass jb on 09 May 2005 - 02:45 PM in Homemades

Well it is an interesting design (I actually was contemplating something similar), however, I have a couple concerns:

1) The feasibility of rotating a piece of PVC (muzzle) into the coupler (at the end of the piston tube), I don't have some handy, so I can't say either way, but it seems to me that it wouldn't rotate into it, only slide in parallel. I suspect the only way of being able to rotate it into the coupling is with some liberal sanding/cutting of the coupler/muzzle. This brings me to my second point.

2) Seal. Or potentially lack thereof. How do you plan on keeping a good seal between the coupler and muzzle. Normally this isn't a problem if you slide the muzzle in, like most breach loaders, but if it pivots up into the coupler, you'll need some sort of smooshy o-ring type gadget. Which leads me to my final point.

3) How do you plan on keeping the muzzle firmly up against the coupler. Manually holding it there is possible I suppose, but could be cumbersome, especially when carrying because you would constantly have to push up on the muzzle. I suggest some sort of releasable catch perhaps.

Anyways, neat idea. Will it have double barrels? That'd be awesome.

Yes it does have a double barrel. :D, I was thinking/am hoping for some sort of catch but I have thought of a good way to do it yet. And for the rotating of the PVC into the coupler, it creates (barely) an airseal. I tried in and put my hand over the barrel and blew into the other end, none of the air came out. Although it still wouldn't be a good fit but when I'd use it I'm assuming I'll use two hands (one on pump and one on trigger) so my hands should be helping it stay closed.

#54444 My Shotgun Prototype

Posted by kickass jb on 08 May 2005 - 08:38 PM in Homemades

Posted Image

Heres my shotgun prototype:

Red = 1/2" PVC
Dark Blue = 1" PVC
Yellow = Wood Dowel/Piece or some others material
Light green = 1/2" coupler
Dark Green = stopper of plastic or what not
Pink = pieces of 3/4" PVC
Purple = Spacer of plastic or piece of wood
Black = Spring
Dark Grey = Stefan
Brown = copper or music wire catch
Light blue = Hinge
Light grey = Nail or hard metal

There is another barrel/plunger/plunger tube/catch with still one trigger, you can't see the other stuff since it's profile. I base it on the old western style guns, to load it, you "clunk" the barrels down via the hinge, load the darts, and "clunk" the barrels back into the couplers.

Everything is roughly in scale with each square 1/2".
What does everyone think?

Thanks to Boltsniper for helping me out with the program

yea its the secret shot 1, cept I cant triple mod it since I lost the tubing,,,unless someone can tell me a good substitute?

#54409 Need A Good Combo

Posted by kickass jb on 08 May 2005 - 02:50 PM in General Nerf

Now I don't know about everyone on this board, but when I play inside or out, I HATE just sitting there and losing people, it bores the hell out of me. I'm the rusher/ambush type, even when it's not to my advantage and gets me killed (doh!). I was hoping you guys could help me out with a good combo to use. I currently have a rototrack, 2 EaB, 2 BBB, SS1 and SSII. I am hoping to expand my arsenal regardless, but I was hoping I could get a good combo with what I have/the best with what I don't. I KNOW there is no "best gun" but I'm just saying based on characteristics of the guns ( like a PC because it's rapid fire for eg). I was thinking for what I have: the Rototack for rushing, the SSII so that safety shot or two, and the BBB carbine (all the sites and front handle taken off) in a long leg holster just incase I ever need that long shot.

#54304 Designing Program?

Posted by kickass jb on 06 May 2005 - 10:21 PM in Homemades

Aside from paint, does anyone know of a GOOD freeware program that can help me design 3d and/or animated 2d models? I've searched all over the net but everything is either way to complex or doesn't have enough.

#54258 Breech Load With Brass?

Posted by kickass jb on 05 May 2005 - 08:51 PM in Homemades

Hey, I am in the process of coming up with a prototype of a dual shot shot gun (spring). My original idea was to have the barrels on hinges and kind of pop down like the old spread shots from the cowboy days. Due to the fact that I want a cocking system like a modern day pump shotgun (over the barrels) I don't think I can make a hinge system, so I'm resorting to a breech load for the two barrels. I like Cx's method of brass barrels with spring guns (17/32 in 9/16 in 19/32 in half inch pvc) so I was wondering if it would be possible and effective to have a breech loader with that barrel. If so how would it work? Same as others?

#54249 Petg

Posted by kickass jb on 05 May 2005 - 06:58 PM in General Nerf

But do they sell the straight stuff at pet stores? Am I just not looking hard enough? All I find is the coil stuff.

The coil stuff is more likely vinal tubing not PETG.

Did you see Finding Nemo? Remember when Nemo has to swim up a pipe into the water filter? That's the kind of pipe you want.

I loved Nemo, he is the shit!...As for the piping, a relief to know the sell it, but would it still be called PETG or some "fishy" (get the pun?) name?

I saw it at Petsmart, and it was labeled "Lee's Thinwall Rigid Tubing" but it came in all the wrong sizes. There was stuff as large as 3" diameter to as small as 1/8," but no 1/2" or 5/8."

Crap. Well I'll keep looking... Maybe I'll end up buying it off Cx after all.

P.S. off topic, but look at all those quotes inside quotes etc.

#54170 Petg

Posted by kickass jb on 04 May 2005 - 09:16 PM in General Nerf

I might know another way to get PETG like material.

If you look at a computer store, there should be some long clear tubes with lightbulbs in them. I might have few lying around here.

They aren't too expensive, so you shouldn't worry too much about taking one apart.

Edit: They are used as flashy little lights in comps.

http://www.compusa.c...7488&pfp=SEARCH

That should be it.

10 bucks for 12", that's insanely expensive man.

Also I like the idea of aquarium tubing, but all the stuff I find is rolled up in a coil. Do I have to straghten it and if so, will it be that sturdy? If so (once again) how would I straighten it?

#54025 Energy Paintball Gun Mod?

Posted by kickass jb on 02 May 2005 - 03:19 PM in Modifications

Nonono Viper. Energy paintball were those little guns that you pump like a shotgun and it shoots a little blob of washable..."goo". I opened it up and the plunger and plunger tube are very unique (and small) but got good ranges with the goo.

#54024 Where To Buy Brass Piping?

Posted by kickass jb on 02 May 2005 - 03:14 PM in General Nerf

I live in Ottawa, but my brother just got a job at home depot so I'll see what he can do for me before I buy it from some one else (no offence, just would be cheaper).

With regards to MMNO 3, I highly doubt I'll be able to make it out because I can't drive yet and the parents won't drive me four hours to play a nerf war. Maybe in a few years if this is all still going on I'll be lucky enough.

#53995 Where To Buy Brass Piping?

Yea I know, I've been shown up by that too many times and I did use it this time. I live in Canada though so that site is no good to me except for the online store, which is no good to me.

#53992 Stefan Write Up?

Posted by kickass jb on 01 May 2005 - 09:12 PM in Homemades

Here is a writeup on my variant of the stefan. It is supposed not to hurt as much if you shoot someone. Thus the name of Safety Stefan! Ok, you can either make a stefan as usual and as the hot glue is drying, put a small wafer of FBR on it. OR, you could just get the ideal length of the FBR: cut: and make a hole in the back of it so it works in modern Nerf guns. Either way, you get the Safety Stefan! The final thing should look like this using the 2nd method.

Safety Stefan Pic method no 2

Yea, I used the piece of FBR on the tip as well but a few wars down the road I found that the ranges were decreased slightly and that well people didn't always feel it. It was in fact, too safe. So we went back to the old way and wore eye protection. Also the original way helps if you a cheater or newcomer that claims not to have gotten hit, just check for the bruises/welts.

#53991 Bbb Mod With Pictures

Posted by kickass jb on 01 May 2005 - 09:05 PM in Modifications

So to close this thread off, maybe you can tell me if this set up is good. I'll take the 17/32 and make it come out about 2" of coupler which will go inside 6" of 9/16 which will be epoxied inside 10" of 19/32 (all brass) which will finally be epoxied inside 10" of 1/2 pvc. Took the idea of CX's post but changed it so that the 17/32 is fixed into the barrel and I'm attaching the rest of the nested barrel to it...good idea or no?

#53990 Where To Buy Brass Piping?

Posted by kickass jb on 01 May 2005 - 08:50 PM in General Nerf

Aside from online, where can one buy brass piping? I checked home depot plumbing section but I was looking in the wrong section? Any information on where to buy some would be great.

#53989 What Colors Does Fbr Come In?

Posted by kickass jb on 01 May 2005 - 08:47 PM in General Nerf

However, Langley came up with a pretty good idea and dipped the back of his darts in orange paint.

I like that idea but like was it the back half or just the flat surface of the back?

Or, you could go around with a light to look for your darts. Or maybe a black light.

We tried lights but black some what blends in with the dark green grass, would black light make the darts glow?

My friend in the FDG painted his darts by rubberbanding a bunch togeather, and spray painting the TIP of the darts. It sticks to the hot glue,

I like that idea as well but have had bad results when trying to paint the glue, is it because it's Kryplon Fusion? If so, where did you get it?

#53970 Energy Paintball Gun Mod?

Posted by kickass jb on 01 May 2005 - 04:58 PM in Modifications

I'm sure atleast SOME of you have seen/acquired one of those Energy Paintball guns that were in for a while. I was wondering if anyone had successfully modded one with good results?

#53951 What Colors Does Fbr Come In?

Now I'm a BIG fan of nite wars outside, and we have serious trouble finding the darts. Would the darts still work if I sprayed with a little glow-in-the-dark spray paint? If not, what would go wrong?

#53947 Bbb Mod With Pictures

Posted by kickass jb on 01 May 2005 - 03:53 PM in Modifications

I know that part, but should the brass pipe (that I stick into the barrel) be flush with the barrel? Or does it stick through the coupler so that I load the micro in there and then stick the pvc/brass barrel on top of that?

#53831 Stefan Weighting

Posted by kickass jb on 30 April 2005 - 11:49 AM in General Nerf

For me, I use BB split-shot sinkers, and just add a wad of glue and use CX's method with the ice cube. Seems to work pretty well for me all around.

P.S. With Yakman's supersoaker mod, I was using 1/2" stefans weighted as described above. Even with the mass amount of airflow around the dart since it was pvc and not brass/copper and didn't fit in the barrel at all, it still reached about 100 meters at a 40 degree angle, about 100 ft being braced at the shoulder (which was about 20ft farther than the perfectly fitting mega stefans...weird).

#53784 Bbb Mod With Pictures

Posted by kickass jb on 29 April 2005 - 02:31 PM in Modifications

Seems easy enough. Two quick questions about it though. One, how long of a 17/32 pipe should I put in? Two, will a 1/2" pvc coupler fit over the pipe?

#53783 Secret Shot Mod²

That's probably it because I'm using megas (buying micro stuff tonight). So hopefully when I switch over to micros, I'll see better results.

#53755 Secret Shot Mod²

SS1 open

SS1 barrel

Here are two pics of my modded SS1 I mentioned above. For the plunger tube, I plugged up the hole with hot glue that's at the top and made a hole about the same size dead center in the tube. I clamped the pvc to the plunger tube for stability then hotglued it up lightly and then a thin layer of duct tape.
