I agree with Cs. It had me scratching my head as well. Took awhile but once you can understand how the gun works, how the pieces move, and where they go it becomes easy to mod. Here is a picture of the internals by CS. Hope it helps.
If you plan on using a heavy stainless steel spring from ACE or the like I would check that you reinforce the gun. An example would be the crossbow reinforcment in the Mod section by rayway.

I like the idea of orange the best because it seems that it would even be brighter than the red fbr. I'm tired of making 50 darts and then only finding 25 afterwards. Not to mention it would be sick. I would be totally willing to pay 35 cents for good quality orange fbr.

Among other things, the loose fit of your stefans may be the biggest problem. In spring guns such as the NF, pressure must build, and then reach a breaking point to where the dart starts moving. This kind of fit is not ideal for pump guns, because they release air fast in moderate volumes and there is no need fro such pressure build. Try this, cxwq's explanation.
