Orange Mod Works Kit Reviews

13 June 2011 - 10:47 PM

I'm not sure if this is news but there is a new website OrangeModWorks and youtube channel I found where they are making metal internals and custom springs for the Recon and other guns. A representative from OrangeModWorks requested me to do reviews of their modification kits. Here I have completed my review for the Nerf Recon Stage 1 kit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg_OLpSj4YU&lc=EK1XHV_tx2JBFMoDt-Xzbd25gI-AWuRtXFgndqT6_i4&feature=inbox

The Stage 1 Performance kit claims ranges of 65 ft and it comes with a much stronger Recon spring, a metal catch and stronger catch spring, plus a metal reinforcement plate for the arm bar. There is a free modification guide on the OrangeModWorks website that has just about all the Recon mods. After completing all the modifications in the guide I got ranges of up to 65 ft. However some of these modifications would be difficult for a kid who has never opened a Recon before, so I imagine a lot of kids might assume all they need to do is install the kit and it will shoot 65 ft every time. If you do all the hardest Recon mods, then yes it's possible to get 65 ft flat with only the first kit. I am still unsure why OrangeModWorks did not choose to sell both Recon kits 1 and 2 together in one kit since that would make the Recon way easier to modify. Here's a picture of the Stage 2 Performance Kit that is supposed to be available in July. It has an aluminum barrel that is a perfect fit for streamline darts, plus an aluminum plunger.

I learned from the representative at OrangeModWorks there will be more modification guides and kits. Here's part of a message I received a couple days ago, "And thanks a lot for your compliment on our eBook. We plan on coming out with an eBook for every blaster we are going to be making kits for. At this time we are planning kits for 5 guns. Specifically which ones, I'll have to ask the product manager and get back to you. We definitely have some very exciting products lined up for the near future. Let me tell you a little bit about what we have in the works - We are planning to release 10 more kits in the next couple of months, as well as custom-made darts, vests, and paint kits. So if you are interested, you'll be getting a lot of mail from us."

If you have a Youtube channel, subscribe to these guys and maybe they will request you to try out some of this stuff. I am working on a video now where I am showing how to do all the modifications I did to the Recon with the stage 1 performance kit to get 100 ft angled. Of course, it would be easier to just wait for the stage 2 performance kit and then you can get a good barrel with no air restrictor and a metal plunger tube that can't get busted.

Youtube Revenue Sharing

27 January 2011 - 06:59 PM

About a week ago I finally got a million total upload views and 1,500 subscribers on my Nerf Youtube channel. Although I am not a partner, sometimes Youtube gives me the option to enable revenue sharing on my videos which is great, but there's something I've noticed. No matter how many views my videos seem to get, the option for revenue sharing only appears on my videos which have no music. Even when I create my own music. Even by using Youtube's selection of music tracks. So out of 40 videos, I only get revenue from 2 or 3, which earns a couple cents a day. If all of them could earn just 2 cents a day, that would be an extra $20 a month. It's like Youtube has a team of robots that sit there and listen for music in videos so they can disable the audio and revenue sharing. Does anyone know how the revenue share works? Does it just pick videos at random or is there a view count required to get it?

Selling guns through ebay has been a lot of trouble so I'm looking for other ways to build my income since losing my job almost a year ago. Paypal has so far defended me in my recent number of chargebacks, as of yesterday disputing the case of the $130 recon on my behalf. When I called a PayPal agent today, she said it could take until April to win the case, and depending on the cc company, chargebacks can occur even up to a year after a purchase. So that was disappointing news. If anyone knows how to get videos to be eligible for revenue sharing I would like to know so I might be able to earn more than 1 cent a day, thanks.

Scammed Again For $190!

24 January 2011 - 11:12 PM

You know, there's something I've learned from experience on ebay. Never, ever sell to anyone with 0 feedback. A guy on ebay who is user name bloozn70 bought 2 of my Nerf Recons on (edit) October 25, 2010. One was only modified and the other was painted and modified.

After he got my recons, he kept asking me to send him more recons without him paying first. Red flag.
This guy was smart though. He waited until January 5, 2011 to stab me in the back long after I had forgotten him and thrown away all receipts and the ebay records had expired. I lost a total of $60 on the regular unpainted recon, and I'm about to lose $130 for the painted one, all shipping included.

On January 5th, he issued 2 chargebacks claiming unauthorized payment, chargeback reason code 37. This put a hold on my money. Only I didn't find out about the chargebacks until today, and you only get a week to respond to a chargeback. So the one case got closed and this is all paypal had to say, "We've finished reviewing this case, and we've determined that it's unlikely that we could successfully dispute this chargeback. To cover the processing for this chargeback, we have debited your account a chargeback settlement fee." So let's get this straight, if somebody issues an unfair chargeback against you, and steals your money, you get to pay a fee also.

The thing about it is, chargebacks are handled through the buyer's card company. When a buyer issues a chargeback, paypal has to settle with whatever card the buyer has, so they freeze your money until the issue is resolved. The only chance I have now of winning the money back for the $130 recon are the ebay messages I received from bloozn70 because they prove he got it. I would advise everybody reading this to block this guy right now. Go to your ebay block bidder page and block him. When you get messages like this, make sure to keep a close eye on your paypal account because you never know when they might turn on you.

Dear autonerf,

hello, about this gun. im sure u can trust me now
since i paid for if after u shipped it. can u ship
me another one, that means, can i buy another
black recon up to 100ft one. but this time. can
you make it so u just DRILL out the air
restrictors and not put anything into it. for
example the gray thing u put in that recon u
shipped ( the black one ) and also. the one you
just shipped it doesnt go 50 ft flat OR 40 feet
about 35 feet so can you make it really go 50 feet
flat also, just DRILL out the air restrictors and
not put anything into it. for example the gray
thing u put in that recon u shipped ( the black
one ) so basicly, I just want to :

1:buy a new one. just like last time you ship it
to me then i pay

2:please just DRILL out the air restrictors and
not put anything into it. for example the gray
thing u put in that recon u shipped ( the black
one )

3:and last making it really going 50 feet FLAT
( if you can really make it 50 FEET FLAT then dont
do step 2.

please and thanks.

- bloozn70

I told him I was in the middle of moving to another house so I couldn't make more recons for a long time. Besides, I had to ask more than once for his payment the first time. Now he wants more without paying?! I offered him a refund several times, hoping he would send them back because I had a feeling the chargeback was coming. I just knew from the spelling and grammar.

Dear autonerf,

ok ill just keep it. when you make another one. tell me. i surely will buy it

- bloozn70

There you have it, the evidence speaks for itself. He decided to abuse the paypal system to chargeback his money. Surely that thieving liar will not be buying anything from me again.

Sellers, Beware Of This Nerf Ebay Scam!

07 November 2010 - 04:16 PM

This is important for everyone who wants to sell Nerf stuff on ebay. Purchase tracking, delivery confirmation, and require a signature! Keep all receipts! Do NOT send anything until you are paid. This is what went down.

Ebay user bocatmom purchased my painted buzz bee double shot for $100.

I received payment and sent the item with tracking. It was delivered on Oct. 30. Then on Nov 4, bocatmom issued a chargeback through paypal. I received this message from bocatmom the next day.

Dear autonerf,

I did not order this item. Please cancel the order if it has not been shipped. If it has I will refuse the item and it will be sent back to you. Thank you,
- bocatmom

When I informed bocatmom the item had tracking on it and it had been delivered a week ago, I got this reply.

Dear autonerf,

I did not order this item. The item did ship but the box was completely empty. No item. No packing slip. Nothing. I opened this box myself only because it was so light. I will be happy to send the box back to you. Please advise. Thank you,

- bocatmom

When I checked bocatmom's ebay purchase history, there were several other toys guns purchased in the last few weeks. According to bocatmom, I just randomly sent an empty box without even having an order for it. Who else would have ordered it, a magic genie?

Paypal is reviewing the case. If it is decided in the favor of the buyer, I will lose everything. What can I do about this? Has anyone had this kind of experience? Please help.

Everyone please go now to your ebay block bidder page, and add bocatmom. Don't let the same thing happen to you!

To everyone reading, if you are able please pm me the names of ebay users that you have had problems with so that I may add them to my list. I am tired of losing my guns and money. Thank you.
