The plunger stop hole is 1/4 of an inch. I just checked the barrel, it is straight. It is the picture that makes it look curved down. I was afraid drilling a bigger hole in the plunger stop would unconcentrate the air being pushed out. Also, the plunger and spring was lubed down with a silicone lubricant spray.

Updated picture. I only banded it and cut off some excess hot glue. The barrel is still the same as it was.

Good job on the mod and especially the paintjob. Looks sweet.

I had a spare Nitefinder lying around so I decided to emulate PN's mod. The only thing I didn't do is the wood screw and washer since I didn't want to go to the hardware store for that. I followed his mod to the best of my ability, even creating the vacuum loading. I can somewhat see some validity in his claims. I shot my homemade Stefan (2 inch gray FBR with CS-styled head) and a Tagger Dart. The temperature outside is 58 F with barely noticeable (if any) wind. The Tagger Dart at level shot, which is my arms fully extended at shoulder height which is 5'0', went 38'5". The Stefan went 61'2". Both dart skips were ~2 ft. At a 10 degree angled firing, the Tagger went 64'3" while the Stefan went 87'. I doubt reinforcing the plunger with a washer and a wood screw would increase straight ranges by ~30 ft but his mod is still well done. Good job PN on the mod. But I'm excited to see Badger's analysis of your modification. And here is a picture of my Nitefinder.

Can you explain the mod you did to the pump? It seems that you took off the handle and drilled some holes in it but I don't get how it helped. Creative barrel though.
