Sorry Comrades, but we're not going to be able to make it either. I'm hoping the situation improves so we can go to TN next month.
And Nerfomania, sorry to hear of your accident - hope you get better soon.

Personally, I really felt this war was phenomenal.
- Many veterans showing up to show the rest of us up
- Another visit from our TN nerfers - Chain, Derrick, Brandon and Cade - great to see you guys there.
- A lot of new faces
- Overall decent sportsmanship
- Watching the trio of Rogue, Zax and Rork own the first 3-man round...then banning them from doing so again. Forever.
- Enjoying my Chicken-mod shotgun with hopper. Screw y’all—I ain’t too proud to use one.
- Having said shotgun last the entire day (despite some coupler issues). Still much more reliable in 90 plus degree heat then that pos LS.
- Turning to my trusty NF for pistol rounds. Has yet to fail me.
- From the corner of my eye, seeing someone take a tumble in the first FFA then turning to see Chicken rolling on the ground, stirring up a dust storm. Wish I had my camera.
- Making Rogue chase me around the portables before he finally got me. Took you long enough to chase down a 50 year old guy... better get to the gym and work out a little more, brother.
- Chasing Spud down for a barrel tap. I'm too old for this shit...
- Chicken and I downing nearly 300oz of Gatorade and our traditional 12-hour soaked subs (homemade this time, not Publix.)
- Carpe was everything a Nerf game should be. Wish we could’ve done it a few more times. Seriously.
- Umpa + snapbow = pain. At any distance.
- Standoff with Zax in the last FFA, each with one life left, and distracted him whilst Rogue snuck up to do my dirty work. Yeah, I was hoping to finish off birthday boy myself but at my age, I’ll take whatever help I can get.
- Chicken and I taking out Rork and Zax in the final Gunslinger round. The only round we won but a good way to finish the day.
- Sunday am: not as sore as I thought I'd be. Golf is still on for Monday.
- Chain, if you ever decide to host in TN, we’re there.
Mehs...
- Hitting Spud in the chest. Dude, I can’t apologize enough. You came around the corner and when I caught a glimpse of your shirt, I thought you were Poptart being his usual sneaky self so I shot first and asked questions later. Just didn’t want you to think I did that on purpose.
- Could’ve witnessed some better sportsmanship from some people. On the other hand, being their first war, I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and assume the behavior will improve next time.
- I agree 100% with Rork; six people should not have to clean up after 18 at the end of the war. Pitch in next time.
Post War Dinner at Chili’s
- In attendance: Rogue, Zax, Rork, Nerfomania, Cory & Chicken.
- While I am disappointed I missed the 5-man group shower at Zax’s beforehand (then again, maybe I’m not) it was great to chillax and enjoy a beer and a great steak dinner.
- Was hoping for a display of pole vault talents (despite claims to the contrary ) but yes, Rork, we tipped her well. Anyone who gives Rogue a non-working pen on purpose just so we can see how long it takes him to fill in his receipt can roll with us anytime.

You know it was a great war when it'll take you at least 3 days to recover...
Rogue deserves a lot of thanks from everyone for organizing and hosting this war, offering raffle prizes and keeping everyone in line. There were a few instances where some folks needed a little 'guidance' along the way but from my perspective, things never got out of hand.
Highlights:
- Nerfing with an old buddy, Rogue, again
- Nerfing with FL veterans Soggy, UltimateNerf and Hawkshot. But Hawk was like a Ninja; there one minute and gone the next. But thanks to you and your folks for hosting the Mod party. Chicken was looking forward to that as much as the war.
- Meeting the new faces: Carakki, Semper Fi, Bear, Oddball and Ducky. Your enthusiasm and eagerness was fun to watch, even if a few of you did tend to camp more then you should have. And I still don't know how Carakki wore his long sleeve shirt all day. Dude, I know you said you had a high tolerance for heat but every time I looked at you, I had to drink another Gatorade.
- Excellent playing field - it had it all: shade, manageable field, portables, rest rooms.... wish they were all like this.
- Winning my first ever FFA - against Rogue, of all people - thanks to my Rogue/Chicken-modified Longshot Integration
- Winning my second FFA against my son, thanks to my NF
- Enjoyed my two Longshots...until the humidity played havoc with the foam. Never experienced so many jammed darts. Frustration was an understatement but what are ya gonna do..
- Watching Chicken use his Rork-created SnapBOW to dispatch his opponents with uncanny ease. And I've got a nice welt on my chest to prove it. (I want one, too, dammit.)
- Rogue's generosity with his darts and weapons. Alas, we all realized midway through that as soon as I touch a primary, it decides to go into a coma. Spent the rest of the day with my trusty, Chicken-Mod NF, which continues to serve me well.
- Ducky, make some serious darts to go with your Raider and you will be a force to be reckoned with.
- Medic, Gladiator, Wildcard - all great games.
- Rogue: 3 barrel taps in one game. Just sick.
- Teaming up with my son to take a few Wingman rounds. Ok, mostly watching him take a few Wingman rounds...
- Trees are our friends. Use them wisely.
- A nice hot shower afterwards, then dinner with Rogue and my son. Thanks, Hawk, for the restaurant recommendation; their food was excellent.
- Watching my 15 year old son walk very slowly this morning, grimacing with each step. And they call me The Old Guy?!?
Lowlights:
- 100º degrees... lord have mercy.
- Only having five guys for the first two hours. Did I drive 6 hours for this?!? But then the Riverside crew showed up and all was good.
- Running too fast around a corner in an attempt to nail Ducky and getting hammered by Rogue on my left shoulder and right pinky. Didn't realize he was using his Salvo; all I could think was, "How the hell did he hit me twice??"
-My apologies again to Oddball for overreacting to your excellent head shot...even if you did say you were aiming at my feet.
Final Observations:
- You can NEVER have too many darts. Chicken, take note.
- You can NEVER have too much water. Newbies, take note.
- If you ever share a pizza with Rogue, eat quickly.
I've only participated in six wars but this ranks up in the top two. Unlikely we can do but one Florida trip each year so I'll be looking forward to the Rouge/Zax/Rork August war this fall.

Recap from an Old Guy's Perspective
• Beautiful drive up - nice location pick, Rork.
• Enthusiastic Newbies - and they weren't as easy to take down as one might have initially thought. Hope you guys can make it to future wars.
• My son and Poptart running the gauntlet; funny as hell to watch but couldn't believe we didn't hit one of them. Like freakin' rabbits...
• Rork's generosity with his weapons. Thanks, dude.
• The ingenuity of some of the homemades.
• Mano y mano with soccerbeast in the first FFA - and the better mano won.
• Watching Ben squirm because he didn't pick Leslie fast enough to be on his team.
• Barrel taping three opponents; for an old guy like me, that's saying a lot.
• Watching my son grow into a serious Nerfer in the last year. Accurate, fearless, excellent sportsmanship - couldn't be prouder. In another year or so, he'll be scary dangerous. Just remember who's giving you the ride home...
• My 15-hour well-soaked Publix Ultimate sub sandwich. mmmm....sandwiches...
Cons
• Mother Nature's a bitch.
• Busting up my favorite weapon in the second round. Yes, it was my fault, not my weapons-maker. But I will be better prepared at the next war

Rork, if you get a chance, email me your cell #, just in case. I'll be bringing Chicken, Poptart and Umpa with me.
Thanks.
Thanks.
