Check Valve?

I'm am going to construct a ball valve gun with a bike pump. I was wondering if I needed a check valve on the end of my pump.

Hey, this is my first post, but not my first mod. I integerated my At2k into my DTG. Surprisingly, it got more range than my single barreled At2k because the At2k's trigger wouldn't pull on 4+ pumps. It gets about
90 ft.
