I know that I risk getting punched in the throat and banned by our malevolent moderators but here goes...
I picked up a Magna a few weeks back and fell in love with its old school robo cop look and monster ammo. I have been nerf modding on and off for a few years, but never really got into different ammo sizes, so I did my due diligence with google and bing trying to get more info. I know the basics, smaller ammo less air resistance and bigger ammo is slower making most ammo development happen in the smaller calibers.
I was hoping that somebody could get a little more in depth about the pros and cons of the different sizes. Has anybody done in depth study of accuracy and range with larger projectiles vs smaller? The Magna has enough punch to fish tale those huge darts so I am thinking properly weighted home made ammo has potential. Before I reinvent the wheel I wanted see what else has been done on this front.

Battery Port
30 September 2013 - 09:34 PM
I would not be surprised if this has already been done, but have not run across it, and it has some great potential. I wanted an easy way to mess with the batteries on my blaster with out having to take it apart all the time or alter the stock battery compartment. So I went through my box o' parts and found a stereo plug and jack leftover from a different project. The plug and jack are available at any radio shack for a few bucks so this does not require any thing exotic. The Blaster side port just has the leads of the jack soldered to the terminals of the battery compartment. The remote side I still have to mount and make look pretty but my plan is to gut some of my kids tactical rail add ons and use it as a battery back. This would help solve the problem of how to quickly change batteries in a war. A tac rail battery pack would be quick and easy to change. Enough of my rambling here are the pics. No how to, just a few pics any decent modder will get the idea.

Expanding Foam
19 September 2013 - 09:19 PM
I know that "concept threads" are extremely erotic, but I work for a living and will not have time to continue my experiment for a few more weeks and I am wondering if anybody else has done any research or development in this direction.
The expanding door and window foam when injected into half inch pvc will cure and create a foam rod the exact diameter of the pvc. This I know because I was able to run a quick experiment between foaming windows today at work. I am thinking that if you took some of those plastic trim clips you can get at the auto parts store and put that in one end of the pipe then foam, the foam would fill around the shaft of the clip so when you push your foam out of the pipe you have a foam bullet ready to go, just trim to length. This would be a quick easy way to make straight darts to any diameter barrel. Use your desired barrel material as the mold.
Given the creativity on this board I have a hard time believing that no one has done this yet. I am just wondering if it has been done why it is not a more common dart smithing technique and if it hasn't I will be happy to report my results as I have time to mess with it.

Bow Arms

Is there any reason why no one flattens their bow arm on there cross bows. Flattening the arms will let you shorten the length a bit and still have a drawable bow, it will also make the point of the most flex and stress in the curve of the arm and not in the middle of the bow. It takes an extra 15 - 20 minutes to do, but well worth the trouble.
Backyard Bower This guy does a nice job of teaching PCV bows, some of his techniques translate well into nerf bows and cross bows.

Gravity feed Clip
24 July 2012 - 09:16 PM
I have searched the forum and not found any information on this question, so if you know of a thread that already covers this please point me to it. The closest I could find was the deodorant clip on the Big Bad Bow.
Has there been any experimentation with a gravity feed "clip" vs the tube used by wye hopper set up? I see the main problem being double feeding. I am going to experiment with this, but any previous work would be nice to know about to save me from reinventing the wheel.
