Hey guys, sorry if someone has already posted this mod but I could not find anything about it through searching.
Anyway, I was trying to do a barrel mod to my NF for the first time, so I went over to Lowes and searched for some 1/2" CPVC, but the Lowes over here does not carry any. Dissapointed I went over to the 1/2" PVC and bought a 10' section for around $1.59 to see what I could do with it. I got home and tried to fit a dart in there and it slid right through, after thinking for a while I found out a way to make a micro fit and shoot out of a 1/2" PVC barrel, so heres the write-up.
Supplies
Nitefinder Dremel 4" Long PVC pipe with a 1/2" Diameter Crayola Barrel Some kind of strong bonding glue
I started by taking apart the gun and looking at the internals only picking out what parts I needed, which are in the picture below
I took the Air restrictors and took a dremel to them.
I continued by taking the PVC and gluing it to the plunger assembly (try to use some kind of strong glue like epoxy, because if you dont the barrel could move and throw off the firing of the gun, causing your dart to go nowhere...To make it fit better on the assembly you can take a sanding bit for the dremel and dremel the inside a little bit until it is wide enough to fit over the assembly. Then just take some electric tape and tape around the spots you glued to give it some extra hold.
Next I took the case of the gun and sanded the case down so I could fit the barrel in there with ease, try to make the fit as tight as possible though to prevent the barrel from moving.
After all of this take the gun and put it back togther. After putting the gun together take the crayola barrel and glue it in the PVC (small side first), This makes it so the barrel has something to catch the dart with so it doesn't just fall straight through. Again try to use a strong glue to glue in the crayola so it doesnt move or fall down in the PVC.
Here are some pics of the gun finished
This mod has worked wonderfully for me, especially since I can't get my hands on any CPVC right now. Also, its a good alternative to the Crayola barrel because from my expirence the crayola barrels bend or break easily. I haven't tested out the range yet, but most likely tommorow I will get some results and put them in the post for you guys. Once again sorry if someone has already posted this or if it is stupid...Thanks for your comments.
