In Topic: How to properly cut brass for an angel breech.

When cutting brass, insert a smaller sized piece of brass into the one your are cutting (19/32nds insert 9/16ths, 9/16ths insert 17/32nds, 17/32nds insert 1/2). Then use your pipe cutters and go slowly. If you do it correctly and carefully, the ends of your cuts will have a very slight lip. Last just use any dremel bit the sand the inside of the barrel lip a little bit. I use this dremel bit but you can use anything the looks like it.

In Topic: How to replace vinyl tubing?

21 February 2012 - 12:17 PM

I actually had this problem a few weeks ago. Just bring your tank and pump to Lowes and go to their tubing section. They will have clear tubing that will fit perfectly right over the excess tubing of the tank and pump (the tubing fits perfectly over 1/4 clear tubing). The best part is that they sell it by the foot so it will cost like 20 cents per foot. I was going to by connectors to connect the excess tubing of the tank to the 1/4 tubing but this was much cheaper. I just bought that and used plumbers goop to glue it on.

Use med. walled petg.

Medium Walled is not necessary. My foam will fit thick walled. I have made darts with ever 100 feet or so and have been getting same results.

What is your heating method? Either you are not stretching it enough or you are heating it too much. My method of heating is 10-15 second of indirect heat via blow dryer.

I've been heating it too much then. like 20 seconds and then putting them in the freezer for a few mins. How would you stretch them?

To stretch the foam, just pull it in little sections (4-5 feet or so) before cutting. Stretch foam to just before breaking point. The blanks that you made after heating for 20 seconds should fit medium walled.

It sounds like you got some of that larger stuff he had, it apparently fits well in sch80 PVC.

No, he did not received stuff from my bad roll. I would not sell bad foam to anyone if I knew it was bad. All the foam I am selling now is from a new spool. This new spool is slightly larger than my original stuff but no where as bad as the other spool I had previously.

Ok. You got to stop making new useless threads about random backer rods. There are other threads you can post it under or search. Most likely, if its not on here, it has not been tried.
