the PS3 seems to rely on its graphical capabilities (and FF fanboys) more than well-developed gameplay. Not to say that the PS3 doesn't have it's gems, it's just that it seems to be over-playing it's graphics as a crutch rather than a compliment to gameplay.

The Playstation line doesn't just have FF games. I myself have never owned or played a Final Fantasy game (except for Tactics, but that's a different type entirely), and I own the Playstation and PS2. I think the main reason that they have the graphics is to compete with the XBox 360, because that's what Macrohard is doing also (what has this come to?). Most games I've played so far for the Sony systems have had better gameplay than graphics, so I think that'll continue.

And anyone who buys a system just because they're obsessed with one not that great series needs a life.

This looks promising, but I was kind of hoping for the longshot first. That's a longshot there.

SKA

Why is Ska in all caps, but nothing else is? Just in case people didn't know, it came from 'Skavoovie', a jamaican greeting, and it's not an acronym.

I think one thing that makes America's Army so great is that you don't respawn until everyone dies, so you really have to think about what you're doing before just running in and trying to kill.

As far as FPS's go, try America's Army.

It's fun, it's free, and you can download it here.

I'll second that. I have America's Army and, though I'm bad, it rocks.

As far as RPGs go, go out to a store and buy Ultima Online, or find somewhere to download it, though that would take awhile... and I mean a long time. Then, download UO Gateway, and play for free.

I'd recommend you consider the GP2X (http://gp2x.co.uk/)

I'm not usually one to like handhelds, but that thing looks amazing, better than a PSP. I'm considering getting one, but do they only sell in the UK? And also, I'd have to get a conversion from that price to USD... so maybe not. I like the function of being able to play old games and I do have a thing for Linux. It's better than Windows.
That thing amazes me.

EDIT: That thing looks a bit too expensive for my tastes, seeing as I already have a nice mp3 player with video, but if I was to get a new system, it'd be that.
