Turning Your Longshot's Shotgun Attatchment Into A Pistol

19 August 2008 - 09:07 PM

Ok, so I was target practicing with my Longshot, and I discovered that it's much more practical if you ditch the front gun extension, so now I almost never use the shotgun extension because it doesn't help your Longshot and is nearly useless on its own. However, you can make it a single shot pistol. Now, the pistol itself isn't very practical either, since I didn't do any other mods on it. You can make it more useful if you're willing to do other mods on it, but I'm not.

As a warning I must warn you this mod involves mutilating your gun. I was hesitant at first but then I just kept telling myself "It's just the barrel extension" so I was able to stay sane (to a degree) during the mod.

First, what we want to do is take the gun apart, and take out everything on the top half of the gun, which is pretty much just the Longshot barrel's extension. It should look like this.

Now, put the whole thing back together (this was a really tedious process for me and my fingers hurt from all the screwing).

This is where I started questioning my sanity. Take a knife or saw, and cut off the top half of the gun. It should look like this.

After that, put some tape on the open spots at the top of the gun to protect the insides. You can repaint the gun to make it look cooler, but I don't paint my guns, so yeah. Hah, it looks more like a water gun than a Nerf gun now. Enjoy your new pistol!

Extremely Easy Half-stefans For Your Maverick

17 August 2008 - 10:55 PM

This is for those who want to save money on darts but still don't want to go through the trouble of making full stefans. Note that these darts will ONLY work in a Maverick or Nitefinder with the air restrictors removed. That aside, let's start out. (sorry I have no pictures to show because my camera is currently broken)

Take a cheap stock dart (not sonic or streamlines), in this case, taggers. Now, first thing you do, is take your tagger dart and rip off the tip. Be careful not to damage the foam while you rip off the tip. Now, cut the dart in half, in exact halves. Make sure it's a straight cut!

Now take one half that you just cut off. add some hot glue just barely enough to plug the hole up. After it dries, put an airgun shot, or if you want to be cheap, a .2 gram airsoft pellet on top of the dried glue and smother it in hot glue until it sticks. Wait for the glue to dry.

Now, if you did this with 3 darts, you'll have 6 stefans in total. If you did it correctly, the half-darts should perform just as well as the stock micro darts (mine do). So now I have twice the amount of ammo I paid for, and it's really easy to make.

Correct the title if these shouldn't be called stefans.
I think this can also work for many other guns, but they all need to have their air restrictors removed to shoot these short darts.

Enjoy!

How Can You Make The Longshot Shoot Something Other Than Streamline Da

15 August 2008 - 03:45 AM

Don't tell me to use search; I did, and nothing came, so I'll make a new topic.

The Longshot and Recon can't shoot anything other than Streamlines. Is there a mod that would allow them to shoot other stock darts, like Taggers or Micro darts? Streamlines are really expensive; $4 for 10 darts. It's a ripoff. A mod that would allow them to shoot cheaper stock darts would be very helpful.

So can anybody tell me if there's a mod that would do that?

Longshot's Shotgun And Recon's Barrel Extension

14 August 2008 - 11:16 PM

From what I've been constantly hearing, the Recon's barrel extension does nothing but make the gun look cooler but makes range and accuracy worse. They've also said the same with the Longshot's shotgun extension.

Wait a minute.

Wouldn't the extensions actually help accuracy because of a longer barrel? Everybody seems to say that they have no positive effect on the gun's performance. But if the barrel of the gun is longer, why is the performance worse, not better?

Recon Vs Longshot

14 August 2008 - 02:56 PM

After watching countless reviews on youtube comparing the two guns, I still can't seem to come up with any decent conclusion. I'm having trouble deciding which one to get, and probably not having them is what makes this so hard.

So after a while my conclusions for each gun were:

The Recon is far more versatile than the Longshot. It could do the Longshot's job decently if that's what you wanted. Also, if you want a small weapon you could strip it all the way down to the size of a Nitefinder if you wanted to. It's also a full $10 cheaper than the Longshot. But while it can do almost anything, it doesn't excel in any field. Well, ok. If you strip it down to its pistol and put the laser on it, it's still better than the Nitefinder.

The Longshot isn't as versatile as the Recon, as that's what the Recon was meant for, but as a loser rifle it does its job really well. It's slightly convertible, but I shouldn't be expecting too much since it wasn't made to be convertible.

So now I'm kind of in a deadlock here. I don't know which one I should get. I only have enough money to get one right now.

Don't flame me if your opinion's different from mine.
