Leaking Homemade

19 February 2007 - 11:22 PM

I recently finished my first homemade ball valve gun. Sadly, it has 2 or 3 significant leaks. It still barely pressurizes, though, and I can still shoot a stefan 40 ft. or so off of the very limited psi. I need a way to fix these leaks so I can actually pressurize the gun to a decent psi and get my 100 ft. ranges. I tried duct tape already, and it only helped slightly reduce the leaking, if at all. So, my final question is this: What should I use to seal the leaks?

I will post pictures in this thread if necessary to seal the leak. Thanks!

Cleaning Copper (piping)

13 June 2006 - 03:48 PM

I finally found some 1/2" copper piping in my basement! Yay! Only problem is, the copper is in horrible condition, its reeaaly dirty, so dirty that you can only FAINTLY see the copper color through all the crap. I was thinking that I would be able to sand off some of the crap and then use lemon juice to thoroughly cleanse it out. I know that that works for copper pennies, but will it work for copper piping? I know that pennies are also coated in zinc, so that may be the only reason it works for pennies. Basically, how can I clean it out well enough to use for modding? Thanks!

...wow, that was the most non-structured paragraph I have ever written in my life...

Stock Micro Dart Physics

31 May 2006 - 02:24 PM

I have searched this website and googled about these questions, but here they are:

First: Scientifically, what is the MAXIMUM physical range that a stock micro dart can fly after being fired from a very high-power gun?

Second: How much does weight affect the range and flight of stock micro darts?

Thanks in advance for any answers to the above questions!

Copper?

08 May 2006 - 05:35 PM

Okay, my first post in several months! Does copper piping work well for barrell replacements? Specifically in air-powered guns, NOT spring guns. Also, does copper work better or worse than crayolas, pvc, or cpvc?

Wooden Ball Gun

28 February 2006 - 04:44 PM

I Don't quite know if this classifies as a "Nerf Homemade" or not, so I decided not to put it in the homemades section. Here is my design for a gun that shoots foam-insulated wooden balls:

Because I'm using low accuracy ammo (balls), the PVC would have to be very low Diameter. Also, the air-bed pump must be a fairly high voltage and must be a certain model. The hole/slit in the top of the PVC enables the gun to accept a slide controlled hopper. If anyone has any ideas for a hopper like that please share them. Thanks!

Note: My idea is basically an electric ball blaster with much better range and smaller ammo.
