I'm a noob to painting, but found the Sharpie oil-based paint pens to be pretty easy to use and look good for detailing (logos, screws, fine lines).  Home Depot has them in a 5-pack that will cover common detail colors (Gloss Black, Gloss White, Silver, Gold, Red).  The silver and gold are supposed to be metallic and have some shimmer to them, but not as much as a metallic spraypaint. Black and White Gloss seem to match my Rustoleum sprays well.

If the surface is consistently scratched, and it's not another paint problem (poor adhesion, peeling, running, etc.), you should be ok to just hit it with the next step up. I'd usually go 120/150, 180, 220 and call it a day; if you want super shiny you've got to go higher.

 

If it's not consistent or if it is a paint problem, you need to sand that stuff off as best you can. Don't use a solvent stripper/cleaner, you may dissolve the blaster as much as the paint.

Thanks.  Hit it with Dremel last night then 120/220/320/wet400 everywhere it was showing scratches. Looks blurry/scuffed now instead of scratched. Lots of those places are now showing the underneath plastic, so I'll start hitting it with paint again today. 

So, you're saying since I just bought a Rapidstrike that I'm going to turn into a rapidpistol with 16 AWG, 3 switches and a LS2 with no electrical/dremel/modding/painting knowledge to my name is a bad choice..

Gonna do it anyway. Might turn out good, might turn out bad. Either way I'll have fun (hope I dont blow myself up).
