Aim/accuracy Challenge

17 December 2008 - 10:57 PM

So I got bored earlier today and decided to test my aim with my modified NF. I challenged my brother to see who could hit the narrow side of a playing card first. I was convinced it would take forever to make the shot.
Stood back about eight feet from the card, which was held upright by paper cup with a slit in it to hold the card.

Then, by pure dumb luck. I got it first try. my brother got it three times throughout the course of about 40 shots. I did it again twenty tries later.

So I challenge the Nerf Haven community to meet, if not "one up" this challenge. Test your skills and post the results.

Good luck beating the first try.

P.S. My NF has a stronger spring, no AR's, and a custom laser sight to get the aim spot on. ranges are 70' flat and 90+ angled. Stronger guns will better meet the challenge.

Long(er)shot

The Long(er)Shot

The Longshot is a great gun, but stock it was kinda cruddy. It fired about twenty feet and could be dodged by a turtle. So I took it upon myself to fix it up.

The first matter of business was to remove that stupid Air Restrictor. Undoubtedly this was the most frustrating restrictor removal I have ever done. It was almost as though Hasbro didn't want me to take it out. (odd, wonder why?)

Yet after a significant struggle, it was completed. I took off the dorky bi-pod and added a barrel extension, cut off from the front blaster.

Now that the gun could fire easily 40' more readily, it was time to add on a scope. I mean a real scope, not the stock, piece of plastic with two clear panels and a decal. No, a full blown, adjustable 4x15 Daisy airgun scope!

Ranges don't compare to other modders have done, though it is noticeably better.

Ball Blaster (the Cruisin' Bruiser)

The Cruisin' Bruiser

Admitably my best work thusfar, the Cruisin' Bruiser is a force to contend with.
My little brother bought the Buzzsaw a while ago and though entertaining, it's power was lacking. It was then that I knew what I had to do with my first week of summer. Build the Nerf Ball Cannon from hell.

It turn's out that Home Depot doesn't have the tubing to fit a NERF Brand ball, although they do have pipe that fit's foam golfballs.(about one and a half inch diameter; easily found at WalMart)

Fifteen bucks and some one hour later, the Cruisin' Bruiser was made...

At just over 3 feet long, it packs a punch. I took the valve idea from another nerfer.

But i used a presta valve instaed of a schrader valve. I'v found it holds pressure longer, and it allows me to depressurize without firing in case of emergency.

The ball exits the barrel at an estimated 200mph @ 80psi, it makes a hell of a noise when fired. Ranges about 75' when fired, but only because foam balls have incredibly high drag and low mass.

Homemade Mini Blaster

The Storm.

Yes, this gun is also shown on NerfX, but i was finally validated on NerfHaven (which is so much better) so I had to put it on NerfHaven.

I cut up an old water gun, (also called the storm) and made it fire nerf darts. Stefans and streamlined darts work best.

The barrel is made out of an old Elmer's glue stick (shown below).

The darts range from 50' t 60', and i've clocked the darts at over 50mph.
