Asian Nerf Foam Distributor

17 May 2013 - 10:13 PM

Hey all,

Back at a BCNO war a few years back, me and a few others had talked to Rambo who had found a Japanese/Asian vendor who carried the nerf brand foam that comes with sonic whistlers, streamlines etc. They were able to sell it without the drilled holes, and Rambo claimed the foam was high quality and could've possibly been the future for dart making. I did some searching and couldn't find anything, but I was wondering if anyone else has come across the company/foam in recent times. By the way Rambo made it sound, the company was a a high bulk distributor. Any information about the vendor or foam would be appreciated. Rambo said it was the company that supplies the foam to Hasbro/other nerf companies for their foam. Just something I'd like to share and see if others found the same company.

Supermaxx 1000 Modifications

27 July 2009 - 10:04 PM

I first posted this on NHQ for the contest. Seeing as it is over, I guess I'll post it here. Hopefully this gets added to the directory.

This is my first write-up and will be my entry for the Mod Contest.

Materials:
8"-10.5" of 1/2" Sch. 40 PVC
***1' 19/32 Brass -------------OMC Thickwall Petg works better. You get 10'-20' more out of oyur gun. Wherever you see 19/32'', I highly recommend using petg.

1' 17/32 Brass
O-ring from an Air Tech 2000 pump
E-tape
Superglue
Fishing line (optional)
Supermaxx 1000

Here is a picture

First open it up, and take your air tank. Rip off the white cover piece. Then use your o-ring, and very carefully superglue it onto the rim. This will create a seal between the turret and the air tank.

Next, take your foot of 17/32, and cut it into 6, 2" pieces. Then e-tape and put them down the turret. Make sure the 2' pieces are not flush with the top of the turret, otherwise it will not create a seal, as explained later on. Make sure the end of each barrel is a bout 1/4" from the end of the turret.

After that, take your pvc, and e-tape one end and shove it down the faux barrel like so:

Don't forget to plug the pump while you still have it open. Just hot glue over the hole in the end of your pump, make sure you don't get any on the o-ring.

If you haven't already, take out your auto rotation mech, or else it will break from the weight of the turret. Only leave the black piece in so the turret can only rotate one way. This means, only leave the black piece in. Here is a picture of what it should look like.

Now, put it all back together and put your 1' of 19/32 down your barrel. It should slide part way into your turret so that it is slightly over the 17/32. This creates a better seal and will increase range and velocity. I have never seen this done before, and I have noticed it significantly helps. Here you can see a picture of the 19/32 over the 17/32.

Posted Image

And here, is a picture of the brass slid out. This is what you would be looking at when you were going to turn the turret. The white space is where the brass should go.

Posted Image

Now, e-tape the fishing line to the end of the barrel, and the part of the 19/32 that is sticking out. This stops the barrel from flying out of your barrel by accident. Also, add a little bit of e-tape about 2 inche from the end of your 19/32. This will make sure the brass doesn't pop out while shooting the gun.

Posted Image

Now here is how it works. When you fire, the 19/32 should be over the 17/32. Fire the gun, then slide out the 19/32. This is why the fishing line is there, it prevents the brass from falling out. After that, rotate the turret, slide the 19/32 back in, pump the gun, and fire. It's really not that hard to do in person. It only takes a few seconds once you get used to it, and the benefits are really good.

MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!! I tested it out wiht OMC thickwall petg instead of the 19/32" brass. Range and velocity has improved significantly now. I highly recommend using PETG if you can. Thanks.

Just recorded some ranges. These shots were fired from shoulder height, and paralell to the ground. I fired them on a field, so there was little to no dart skip. Here is what I got:

96'
102'
100'
98'
104'
98'
94'
99'
93'

The darts that were used , were 1" in length, and weighted with one 1/4 steel slingshot round. Some of the domes were not perfect. They fit my 17/32 perfectly though. The ranges vary due to wind and how the dart was made. They were shot with the 19/32, not the PETG.
