In Topic: Stryfe motors

I would look into the Make Test Battle Rhino 130 motors. They were designed to be identical to the older falcon motors. I have not used upgraded motors, but these are what I am planning on using when I do. Don't just take my word for it, do a little more research first, but I hope I was able to point you in the right direction.

Do you think I have to use the 14 AWG wire they recommended or can i just use 18 awg?

Just for my own entertainment I've probably spent $200 on trying different motors in the Stryfe. Some were so inadequate they weren't even worth installing for a trial. Some performed well but at four times the price of the Stryfe itself not including the cost of exotic LiPo batteries, relays, rewiring with heavy gage wire, modifying the battery compartment, etc. One unlikely pair of motors gave me 90ft PTG, 100fps+ muzzle velocity, operate wonderfully on both the original wiring and regular old rechargeable AA batteries, and cost a whopping $2.25ea. Given the performance per dollar and minute spent of these motors it's a fools errand to look any further. (Not that I judge anyone for going on fools errands. This entire project was one for me.)

For the record I am not affiliated in any way with either the motor manufacturer or the linked vendor.

Install and be merry. Happy Nerfing folks!

EDIT TO ADD: By "original wiring" I was mainly speaking of the wire gage and the switches. I did remove the thermistors or whatever those things are called on the OE motors.

What type of battery/battery pack would be better then AAs and what is the recommended voltage ?

What blaster did you buy the kit for? It depends if its warn on the catch its self or the plunger assembly.

I bought this kit for the retaliator and the catch and plunger assembly doesn't seem to have any damage.

In terms of power/range, the 7kg is better, but if you can't prime it with the 7kg spring in it then the stock is better since the gun is useless if you can't prime it. I personally wouldn't use 2 stock springs since you can have problems with the coils twisting together and overall it probably wouldn't add much power anyway. I don't quite understand what mod you're doing (is the strongarm underslung on the barrel like a "masterkey"?) but if it's a backup blaster only then the stock spring should be fine. Also in that configuration it would be more awkward and difficult to prime then in the standard configuration anyway. Hope I helped.

yes its a strongarm underslung on the barrel
Thanks for the advice
