In Topic: 3/4" Od Pvc?

09 March 2010 - 09:07 AM

When I used to LARP and make boffers, the idea was to have them as light but structurally sound as possible. We used thinwall (1120) PVC exclusively for the cores of our weapons, and it was never an issue; so I'd recommend seeing if you can find a Lowe's that carries it -- it will be in with the regular PVC in the plumbing section, and it will have written on it the number 1120. Should come in sizes from 1/2" to 1".

[EDIT]
Also, I'm assuming you're asking because you're putting 3/4" foam over the pipe? Don't worry -- the foam may be a little tight, but it will fit over the pipe just fine.

In Topic: Cpvc, Hard To Find?

I don't see why CPVC would be in the electrical aisle(s), however, electrical conduit would be.

And I work as a department manager at Lowe's, so I can assure you -- selections vary store to store. The store I came from had absolutely no CPVC, nor did any of the nearby stores; however, all the new stores that have opened in this area now carry it. If you want to see if a particular Lowe's (or Home Depot, probably) carries something, go to their website and select the store you're going to be shopping in as your store, and it will tell you if the items are in stock.

She should be able to handle up to a sixteen inch barrel before running into deceleration issues. Maybe more, maybe less, depending on just how long the plunger draw is and how much air is being lost through leakage.

It might be possible to do it with some well-placed paint and a pair of thin pieces of cardboard or plastic... Of course, it's been some time since I've seen the innards of a Firefly, so it may not be possible -- but give it a try. They're not terribly expensive to replace, so there's not much that could possibly go wrong.

I'd guess a normal shoe or boot with a reinforced accordion- or ball-type pump under the heel.
