Simple S.S. AS-1 mod

Okay so, with this being my first post, I dont exactly know how well/poor of a job I did. If I could get some criticisms/comments/ideas that'd be great!
Now for the real 'meat' of the post. About a year ago I was waiting in the checkout lane of a Target and saw this little, 3$ gun, just waiting to be taken home. Upon opening I immediately took some test fires and got ~20ft with streamlines Posted Image. I was not happy with the effort Nerf put into this gun, even for a 3$ sidearm. After becoming increasingly frustrated with the poor firing power of the gun, I tore it apart and discovered a large hole up front in the barrel. I promptly covered it in duck tape, cutout the plastic dart-guide-thingy, and put it back together. I now get ~25ft with streamlines, and ~30ft with suction-cup darts (Not sure why they fire better).
Posted Image Tools needed: Philips screwdriver for opening it Duh, tape or you favorite epoxy for filling the barrel hole, a hammer and straight bald screwdriver for bashing out the anti-homemade dart stick, and maybe scissors.
Posted Image First, open it up. This was surprisingly difficult due to the holes being too small for my screwdriver. A little plastic shredded, no big deal.
Posted Image Now, pull the barrel and pump mechanism out of the housing.
Posted ImageSee that hole in the bottom of the barrel? (The gun is upside down so I could get a better view) A considerable amount of air escapes out through there.
Posted Image Patch it, patch it real good. I used tape because I'm impatient, but if you wish to use an epoxy it would probably be more durable.
Posted Image This guy, right here. We all know what to do about him.
Posted Image Get your straight blade in there on one of the four plastic supports, and punish it for being the annoying little piece of plastic it is. So, basically bash it with a hammer.
Posted Image It should poop out the front.
Posted Image Oh yeah, and you might wanna cut off the extra tape coming out off the barrel. (If any)
Posted Image Screw it back together and you're golden.
Ranges:
  • Streamlines: ~20ft before and ~25ft after
  • Suction cups: ~25ft before and ~30ft after
  • Velcros: ~22ft before and ~ 26ft after
  • EDIT: Stefans: ~30ft before, with a good, lightweight stefan and ~37ft after, with same stefan
