The raider will jam frequently, especially during slam fire, if you rack the slide handle too fast. The slide must be fully drawn back and fully exteneded. I have had tons of jams with mine, even darts folded in half inside the breach, because of racking the slide too fast/not fully and firmly forward and back.
I modded mine with the Orange Mod Works raider polycarb kit, and upgrade springs. It broke.
I moved on the the elite version of the raider (I can't think of it's name right now), and the elite alpha trooper. Both are much better blasters stock than a modded raider.

Why hasn't anyone tried brushless motors? Hobbyking and eBay have tons of cheap outrunner brushless motors and ESCs. It looks like you could build a simple servo controller for the ESCs with a 555 timer chip and a few resistors and caps. Plus with an outrunner motor you should be able to just screw the flywheel right to the motor. Brushless motors can take much more voltage and are more durable too.

Barrel length and diameter will greatly effect the size of the tank needed. What is your barrel size?

Assuming the blaster is fired level and 3 ft off the ground
u= initial velocity (AKA muzzle velocity)
s = distance (100 ft)
h = height (3ft)
g = accel of gravity (32.174 ft/s squared)

u = s / ( sqr root ( 2*h/g))
u = 100ft / (sqrroot (2*3ft / 32.174ft/s^2)
u = 231.6 ft/s^2

Now you need to find the volume of air, at 30 psi (pounds per square inch),required to accelerate a JSPB Magnm (~1g) up to the required muzzle velocity over the lengh of your barrel.

Of couse all of this is ignoring friction.
