So, I modded up this stampede over the summer (4 trustfire batteries, OMW spring, AR removal, electronic lock removal, swarmfire integration, etc). It was working great except for occasional runaway issue where it would fire really fast without shooting any darts (only with 4 trustfires, 3 didn't have the issue). So I tied to fix this (regrease, loosen plunger seal a little bit, not crank the screws on so hard), and something went wrong somewhere along the line. I put the gun back together and it worked great for several clips then it all went to hell.
Now for some reason, the darts are getting stuck in the barrel. It seems the dart block is not opening properly, and closes on the dart as it passes through. If I hold it open and shove the dart in it will fire fine. Guess it's either firing too late or closing too soon. Also, the runaway problem is back and happens with 4 or 3 trustfires in. I've been going over it for hours now, everything seems to cycle fine and is in place. The only thing I changed was to remove one of the electrical pressure switches that activates when a magazine in inserted (I had removed all others except these two, I still have one in).
Any idea on what could have gone wrong? Nothing is cracked or broken that I can see.

Swarmpede wiring question
12 July 2012 - 09:36 PM
Ok, so I've decided to build a swarmpede for hvz and need a bit of help with the wiring. The others I have seen done have all had various switches, batteries and circuits to run in various fire modes (stampede, swarmfire, or both). What I would like to do is have them both run off of one battery pack, and have two triggers instead of switches. The normal one for the stampede, and some sort of momentary thumb trigger (i'm thinking use one of the unneeded locks in the stampede) for the swarmfire so I can drop/change mags in the stampede with my index finger and fire the swarmy with my thumb. Here is a high quality rendering of the circuit I tediously thought out...

Now, I have no intention or need to fire both guns at the same time. The swarmy will basically be a super fast firing cover gun while I reload the stampede. The problem with my design is that it still ALLOWS the two to be fired at the same time if my finger were to slip while firing either one. Would both guns firing at the same time put too much load on the 4 trustfire 3.7 volt batteries to cause an issue? Or would it just cause both guns to fire at a lower rate? I'm not quite sure about the electrical aspect of these batteries, but know that they are a bit more finicky and risky than your basic protected batteries. I'd rather not add a second battery pack to the gun to put each one on a separate circuit, but if there is a safety issue I can probably find somewhere to stick them. I usually don't mind just trying stuff and seeing if it works, but when it comes to electricity I'd rather be on the safe side and ask someone with more experience.
Any advice is welcome, as well as more ideas for my "frankengun". So far the stampede has volt, spring (6kg), AR removal, the back half cut down like SGnerf's SMG mod with a longstrike stock attached to it, and a 2.5' blowgun lashed on to the top rail. Still debating cutting down the front of the stampede as I heard it may decrease accuracy for the sake of range, and I have the blowgun for range. The swarmfire is still on the way.

PVC variable inside diameter?
10 July 2012 - 03:29 PM
So I just grabbed some 1/2" PVC for a simple blowgun from Home Depot. When I tested it out it worked OK, but the darts (taggers and whistlers) would slide out the barrel if angled down. I've seen others with blowguns where the dart would stay in place when moved around. Does PVC have a variable inside diameter, where I should just bring a dart and try a bunch of pieces until one fits right? Ir is there a specific type of pipe I should look for?
Thick adhesive help
24 June 2012 - 01:22 PM
Ok, so I am trying to stick a longstrike stock onto a stampede I am modding. The plan was to cut the stampede battery box area off (like the SMG mod), shear the top of the longstrike stock to make it flat, and epoxy or bolt it on. The stampede went fine, but while cutting the top off the longstrike stock it cracked, so one side is about 3/4 inch lower than the other side. Is there some kind of thick strong adhesive I can fill this gap in with? Not sure if epoxy putty would work, as I have never used it before. Any advice would be appreciated!
