I will check with the kids. If we are talking March, we would not be able to on the 24th and 25th because it is a student congress weekend. I will get back to you on some dates that could work with us. The group is really excited to make the trip.

note: We have been using regular nerf darts exclusively because we have them - most of our guns could use stefans, but no one has ever really gotten into making them. I have made a few myself with the hot glue tips, but I did not end up making very many of them.

I am not sure what everyone's situation for airsoft or nerf war sites/locations is, but even in the middle of nowhere where I live, finding an appropriate airsoft location is difficult. Finding a place for a nerf war (esp. when the weather is nice) is much easier. There is also the idea that you can pretty reasonably nerf inside depending on the amount of modding that you have done. The flexibility of play locations seems like a potential upside.

I am not entirely sure how to respond to the "manliness" issue, but I think that you certainly could play to the customization feature. Modding, I have to believe, is more varied in nerf, and there are just so many options - you don't have to be held back too much by expense or limited weapon options. I have found that for many people, nerf is a nice throwback to when they were younger too. Heck, half the time the people you are with probably have a gun or two in the basement or tucked away in a closet already.

I tend to believe in the "build it and they will come" philosophy on hobbies, but it does take another person or 2-3 people to make that all happen. I really liked the idea of having a couple of your closest friends or people who you think might have the most interest get it going. If you are having fun, other people will inevitably want to join.

I suppose there is no good answer, but all we can do is try.

I am pretty sure I can round up 8 people (including myself) to make the trip up to you. Keep me posted on potential opportunities. We are trying to get some wars in down here, but we can not seem to secure an inside location.

Just out of curiosity - what do you use as the tips for your stefans? I am wondering how painful they are.

Let me know if you need any info from us. The group is excited. Even if we have to wait until summer, it would be fun to have another group to war with.

We have plenty of guns and ammo (although we do not use stephans). I think if I am able to come, it would be 7 high school students and myself (maybe 6 and myself). I am not sure of the age group you have. Our battle may not make a lot of sense if you are all younger or older. I coach the debate team in town and we have had a few battles as a team building activity (and I like to tinker with the guns).

We should definitely keep in touch to see if we can make it work (even if we had to do a summer battle). We never get a chance to nerf with anyone outside of our group.

I am actually in SD about 2 hours from you. Do you have a specific date in mind? I am also curious about what type of a venue you have and what you have in mind for weapons (allowed or banned)?

Let me know what you are thinking. I am guessing I might be able to get a small group together to attend if dates work out.
