Have you tried these: Practice Golf Balls
I bought several from academy about a year ago, I believe these are the same ones. They work in my Ballzooka and Ripsaw. I think I saw a bigger package at Target around the same time, but I can't find them on their website.

According to google, that tank weighs around 6.5lbs and is about the size of a football (around 10"x5"). That isn't too bad, except that isn't all you'll be carrying. You'll also be carrying a compressor, several extra magstrike clips (which are light, but also awkward and bulky), and a crapton of darts. All while playing a game that requires you to run a lot.
I'm not saying it can't be done, it just doesn't sound like you've thought this through.

I did nest the brass in the stock barrel; I just made my brass longer than the stock one. I don't see your point.
You used 3" of brass and you have what appears to be 1"-1.5" on the outside of the blaster. I used a little over 2.5" of brass and all of it is inside the stock barrel. Since the brass is inside the barrel I don't have to alter the front piece or worry about exposed metal.
Also you never said how you got the brass into the barrel in the first place. 1/2 brass will fit, but 17/32 is just a bit too big. I eventually figured out that you cut your brass with rotary pipe cutters, which tapered one end and allowed it to slide inside( you can see the tapering at the top of pic. 9). This information is important; I thought I was using the wrong size of brass at first, because mine wouldn't fit

If you have patience and a square needle file, you can nest your 17/32 brass inside the barrel. This way you don't have that chunk of brass sticking out and you don't have to alter the orange front piece.

There's a little over 2.5 inches in there, gooped and waiting to be cut.
I just filed out the inside while turning the barrel in my other hand. It would have been easier if I had some sort of really long sanding attachment for my Dremel. If I ever do this again I might try gluing some sandpaper to a dowel.
