While we're still on the topic of Halo for the moment, anyone catch any news about Halo 2? Sounds like it's shapping up to be insane.

I have a huge article on it from my friends who write CGW(computer gaming world). Though some kids hacked Valve's computers and pirated it before it was released, finished, or ven beta ttested, and now it's delayed till April. The enimies will look through windows, dodge, use cover, destroy your cover, etc. without even being scripted.

Valve didn't make Halo...that's Half-Life, dude.

I don't think "some kids" hacked Valve's network, I think it was a fully capable and competent person. He's threatening to release 100% of the Half-Life 2 source code unless Valve admits to their customers / and the rest of the world that they're full of shit. Apparently the E3 demo was fully of scripted events, not programmed AI interfaces, or so I've heard. Valve is also considering not realeasing the game at all. For fuck's sake, it was on CNN. My friend is playing the illegal Beta, but all he's gotten to work is the physics room were you get to play with the grav-gun.

From what I have read, that is an understatement. I read on Gamespot that the trailer takes place in Southern Africa, where the Covenant have landed and begun their takeover. The USMC calls in Master Chief and he arms himself with two machine-pistols and begins the dirty work. Also, the graphics look absolutely beautiful.

EDIT: I found some pictures, and they are awesome, but gigantic, here they are:

I just played the Halo PC demo and loved it. Giving a PC Gamer a controller is a sin against God...the PC version suits my tastes much better. I just played online for 5-10 minutes and ended up winning. I think all the kiddies who are used to controllers aren't used to a mouse because I went 16-8 on them. The closest person was 8-8.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. In Halo 2 you'll also be able to switch weapons with anybody in that game including friendlies.

Awesome...I didn't know there was bots. That was possibly the only flaw with Halo.

Only flaw?

Multiplayer is loads of fun (as long as it's not Chiron or any of that), but what about the series of rooms in single player/co-op that all look the same?

It's a little too repetitive, my man. Much unlike Goldeneye. Much unlike Perfect Dark.

And no, excellent stats in any of these games do not make you a better person.

Well, go to your school, and tell me that every room in the entire building is different from one another. Then I will agree with you.

Your analogy is flawed. A video game is not limited to the constraints of modern architecture--but even if it were, I'd rather play in a new, exciting environment than one in which all the rooms are the same. It's wholly possible to construct a building in which each room is different in real life, and even moreso in a computer-generated world. You don't have to agree with me.

Yea, agreed, the ending of the game could have been more original. The Autumn's final scene is sweet, but they could have made it a lot better. I didn't like fighting my way full circle, I'd rather have had something new. That doesn't take away from the game's overall value however. I mean come on that first Halo mission actually on the planet is just sick. It's like a fuckin blood bath in Eden.

I think alot of Halo's "flaws" that are being pointed out have alot to do with the company takeove-- I mean, uh...purchase during mid-late production phase of the game (whenever Microsoft buys a smaller company that late in the production stage, you know they got Bungee by their own blue balls). I remember seeing footage of escorting humans out of their escape pods and into Covenant bunkers to protect them. I also remember a couple of weapons and ships that never made it...

The end of the game or atleast the maw and legendary is pretty funny and I agree that the levels were slightly repetitive but the levels outside were awesome.

You guys make some good points... but doesn't it all come down to what you like? I mean, I have no problem with Halo, although I'm severely owned by anyone and everyone... I mean, when a rabid, mentally derranged, horny female cat named "Sheeba"(indian god of death, little fact), beats you, you know that you either suck that much ass, or you were busy looking at the chicks walking down the street. Either way, I still enjoy Halo, and I see only minor flaws, like the continueously similar rooms and such.

About PC verus Console, I firmly believe PC shooters are so much better. The controls are much more complicated, but the actual game control using the mouse is so much easier. Like the other guy said, before you aimed with a console controller, you'd bee lying on the ground where your shoe laces were only milliseconds before.

Well, about that Sheeba Indian god of death, I have no idea what the hell you were talking about, but anyways... Doogie, I agree it would have been more fun if every room more different, but I don't think that's what they were going for. They showed that the Covenant were organized and used modern architecture, which I think was a smart move. BTW, are you and Outburst the same person?

My favorite has to be Golden Eye for N-64. I loved the controls. Also, I like Jet Force Gemini, but only in multi-player.

OutBurst and I are brothers. Sometimes we end up posting on each other's names just because of a shared computer.

I acknowledge your (good) point about the architecture.
