Ok so i was supposed to go to my cousin's friends birthday party to watch over the kiddies there. Before we did that my family decided to go to a local target. When i went in,i looked around the store and then decided to go to the nerf section. I saw a true beauty. The national geo umbrella gun. So i whipped out my trusty wallet and spend 20 bucks on that beotch. After that my dad got pissed at me because he says that if he sees another nerf blaster in the house he will smash it to pieces. The target return person got her attitude on me and i ended up losing the 20 dollars. Apparently the 5 nerf guns i have are "the same plastic pieces of junk".He doesn't see why i would want another one.So of course, i still have a bit of time until i am a legal adult,so i have to listen to him. I walk out of target sad at the fact i just lost the oppurtunity to get the umbrella gun. When i exit Target i look to my right and see a little hippy looking guy near a van selling a bunch of junk.Guess what? Right in the middle of that junk is a nerf crossbow.My eyes are glittering at the sight of this beauty. Then i turn around and see my dad looking at me with this "I'ma whip your ass" look in his face. Oh, and to put the frosting on the cake, when i get to the party, the little kids are all playing with nerf guns. That's right, mock me more god. You might as well make my balls disspear while you're at it. I walked home with nothing.Worst day of my life mates. So how was your sunday?

Holy fuck dude, seriously if I were you I would be fucking screaming at my dad and I would do my best to get ahold of that crossbow. I am sorry for your lost.

My dad has absolutely no room to talk because I spend my own money, and if he got pissed at me for buying kids things, I've done alot more gun handling than he ever has. But really, that must have sucked. 2 misses in one day. I really pity your bad luck, but at the same time I realize that people have it worse than I do.

Smash - that sucks man, I guess I take for granted how much my mom approves of Nerfing.

Busta - I'd advise you not to take the "It's my money, I'll buy what I want" argument if you're quarrelling with your parents over anything. It will inevitably lead to: "Well son, when you support yourself, you can make that call, but until you pay for all your life's expenses, I make that call." Or something very similar.


Just out of curiosity Smash, what are your father's hobbies? If he's really that critical over your hobbies, maybe someone here could come up with a way to bash his. I wouldn't generally do this, but if he is being that much of a prick about it, I'd take it that far.

The crossbow was 3 dollars. I was at a Target in New Jersey. My dad has no hobbies he just sort of annoys people and watches a ton of porn. I can't wait till i move out.

This is out of my area of expertise since I'm the one usually getting in trouble for porn, not my parents, but here's my two cents(in the event that he does expose you to porn).
A) Don't threaten - it could end badly
B) If you really want to do that and you have someone who could take care of you, just do it, don't threaten, just call them up and tell them. Chances are, he could get rid of all the porn and they'd be none the wiser if you threatened him.

I don't know how old you are, but it's not worth (I'm guessing) 4 or 5 years in the system in the event that you don't have anyone else.

And guys - I'm relatively sure that there will be about ten million results before NerfHaven shows up on a Google search for "porn."

Yeah i know how that feels, my dad hates nerf, and gets pissed when i get new guns, beacause he thinks it's for five year olds. Usually i wait till my dad is working on a friday or saturday (hes a firefighter so he works 24 hour shifts) and then go to the mall with my friends, i buy a few guns, and some darts, get some chicken tyriaki and leave. It works pretty well.

I know how you feel, I came home with a magstrike and my mom smashed my Crossfire. She's crazy! I was so pissed, but I guess i'd rather have my magstrike than my crossfire, but I would REALLY rather have both than 1. But I set her straight, and she gave my 5 dollars, half of what it was. I dissagree with not fighting with our parents, unless your parents are open-minded. My parents are just dumb, and it takes a good row with them to get your point across.

Dark Shrimp's purpose is to piss people like you off. You have just given him gratification in "pulling his card."

I tend to agree with Dark Shrimp; it sucks that you had to pass up a deal on a cool gun but in the end it's not going to kill you. If that was the worst day of your whole life your dad can't be that much of a monster. Your words were probably spoken purely out of anger and you probably don't really dislike him that much. If you do I feel sorry for you.

Hm, wow man that's a bummer. In my personal opinon theer are very few things worse then a parent who doesn't support there child's intrests. However, you have to understand where he's coming form atleast a little. I mean, maybe in his eyes he doesn't want his teenager (Which I'm assuming you are seeing as you said you're not 18 but to join this forum you have to be 13) "Wasting" his money on 6 year odls toy guns. You see he may want whats best for you in the future, instead of buying Nerf guns, he may have wanted you to save the money for your future...Or he's a dick...small joke. Although this may be the case, I don't condone his "smashing technique", he better approach would've been to explain to you how important saving is (Which you most likley already know, but it's still the better approach).

Also, in response to the "It's my money, I'll use it the way I want." statement, it's good to stand up for yourself but usually your parents have a retort that can cancel that out. Though, the have a right to, your parents really only want whats best for you, and really until your 18, they own you.

Theres a history here, I don't think people arbitrarily hate their children's hobbies. But is it something a serious talk can't fix? Even if your parents dislike how you spend your time, I think it seems important to try and hold firm. I think that we all have obligations to the people who brought us into the world, fed us, clothed us, and gave us a bed. But as you get older, we assert our independace and part of that should ultimately be the freedom to choose how to spend your time.
