Arctic Blast Super Soaker

What you're about to mod:

Posted Image

OK, so take about 3 inches or more of 1/2 inch sch40 pvc. Go ahead and hot glue, tape or whatever it on to the top. (see pic below)

Make note that the barrel on the Arctic blast is pointed up, so you probably want to cut/sand the pvc so its parallel to the ground.

The finished product:

I just taped mine because I ran out of hot glue. Yours will look A LOT better than mine. Dang.

And youre done! Easy, wasn't it. You can use stephans, stock darts, or for me, my titan darts.

It gets about 100 feet at 30 pumps.

Fire by pulling this top thingy.

The best part is, you can still use it as a Super Soaker!

I'm not so sure abouthow the top would work...

Great job. I would suggest working out a way to make the trigger actually fire it. Also you might want to make your barrel a little bit longer.

I'm anxiously awaiting the hasbro over throw.

One Man Clan, or One Man Company?

Crossbow Mod.

You could in theory make the trigger fire the top flood barrel, but the trigger fires the lower nozzle. The top valve needs a bit of force to open anyways, and it would be really uncomfortable.

Yeah, thats why we have NERF guns in wars, not converted crap.
Why go through the trouble of ruining a water gun when its even more fun to play with with nerf? (DX can back me up, but I'm not trying to start an opinion or fight).

Thats bullshit. My Flash flood get 75 on a good day without wind. My barrel is longer. I think its about 7 inches.

you're not pumping it enough. Neither one of you are. If you actually want to use this, you need a REALLY long barrel, and you need to pump it a shit-ton.

Consider:
*The titan gets pumped about 30 times to be used effectively
*The supersoaker uses the entire water reservior as a pressure chamber
*The supersoaker needs to be pumped 30 times to work effectively when the reservior is full of water, and hence has little room for air

therefore, in order to make the gun work to it's full potential, it needs to be pumped A LOT. (100 times maybe, maybe less)

Ranges will be very long.

Darts will be sacrificed

The gun will be banned at all wars

Tears will be shed

Wisdom will be gained

Real nerf guns will be bought

Stupid thread populations will go down

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Actually, the water rerservoir isn't the PC. The Arctic Blast uses elastic pressure.

OK. Question answering time.

Pvt.McFlurry:
What blister said. But I might go for the longer barrel.

Keef:
Because I got it for 3 bucks. Yeah. Only no cap for the water tank.

PharaonArin:
I think the reason why the arctic blast gets better range is because of the way the air ir released. Now I've never seen the Flash flood , but all other super soakers I've ever seen release the air A LOT slower. the top part for the Arctic Blast releases all the air at once, kind of like the titan.

Never mind. I looked it up online. I have no idea why I got better ranges. All I know is that it EASILY got 2 houses (50+ ft).

zaphodB:
When I was testing it out, I pumped it 50 times. pump no. 50 felt like pump no. 1. The only problem is that 50 pumps only got a few more feet than 30. I'll try higher pumps and I might do the longer barrel.

If it's a cps system, you're pretty much wasting your time. It would be like singling a magstrike. If you want a good conversion, use a watergun that's too small to have a cps system. I assumed the Artic Shock was one of these, because it looked small. I made two converted squirt-gun... things. The first was a crappy little gun that sucked as a super soaker. The other was a CPS2500 (the purple and silver one). (neither one of these was nerf, I shot clay balls, similar to practice paintballs, for target practice) But the point still stands. The smaller one worked better, because it wasn't elastic pressure. (although, the cps2500 worked best if I pumped it until it was impossible to pump any more. There's a safety valve in there, so don't worry about breaking it. just pump until you can pump no longer, and see what you get.)

At any rate, the long barrel will be extremely beneficial.

Is this fun?

Abso-fuckin-lutely

Is it practical?

not even a little.

But by all means enjoy yourself, it's a fun little experiment.

So I guess thats why 50 pumps was practically the same as 30?

No. 50 was the same as 30 because you hadn't filled the bladder all the way yet. Pump until it's really difficult.

Converted super soakers are fun to play with. I picked one up from the Goodwill, it was from the XP line. I don't know how far it goes, but judging by the power (goes through 2 layers of cardboard and still has pretty good power exiting the box), I'm thinking it can hit almost 200'.

I did something like this, except I didn't use the Arctic Blast. Mine at like 25 through 30 pumps gets around 90-95 '. Good job on the mod.

When I finalized/redid the Arctic Blast, I got about 150 ft at 50 pumps. And about 100ish with 20 pumps.

I bet I need a longer barrel. But I'm not going to bother. 100 ft is already enough. And its easier to reload this way.

Thats all folks.

Swifto out.

Damn, I wish I had an Arctic Blast now. I've only got a Flash Flood and other assorted guns. Maybe I could convert them just for a hot day or something, it's not really a normal thing to carry in a war.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. A good nerf gun is like a good woman. It shouldn't require extra lubrication.
