Have I ever expressed before that I love nitefinders? I prefer the old style because they look better, but new ones are still awesome.

Half of me loves to deal with mechanics. Throwing together some crazy design that actually works is pretty cool (note that this stuff usually fails miserably in wars, but is fun nonetheless). Getting to know one gun extremely well, the nitefinder in this case, and making it perform the best that it possibly could.

The other half of me loves art. Not the abstract crap in art museums, but things like the statue of David. A fresh coat of paint on a Dodge Viper. Architecture that makes you wonder how it can physically stand. Well, this nitefinder fits me perfectly. Form and function:

Chopped off, hot glue filled, and coupler modded. The outer PVC is there to support the industrial spring by dispersing the force to the shell, not the screws that hold the plunger tube.

I love the simplicity, looks, and performance. This will see much war time.

Very nice. I like it. It reminds me of my minimized, only stronger.
We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.

Blasphemy. I think you need to throw yourself against a wall, drive to store and buy yourself a brain.

Nice. I like the weathering look.

Questions:

-Is that CPVC coupler modded? And if so, is that 1/2" PVC, or bigger?

-How exactly did you make the hot-glue look so flat?

Great job.

I like the hot glue it makes the gun feel more like the weight it would be if it was a real gun. Also I like the paint job and the look of the barrel.

I guess you have some heavy duty industrial strength toilet paper holders. Do they advise you to wear eye protection when changing rolls?

Good work, as always. One of my preferred methods for cooling and flattening hot glue is to take either a frozen brass tube, or a metal tube filled with water, sealed, and frozen, and then roll over the surface of the glue. The glue cools rapidly and will not stick to the pipe unless you plunge it directly into the center of the glue.

P.S.: You have the same laptop that I do.

Haha, cool. Thanks for the comments. This baby gets 250' + 25' because of the black paint.

Yep, it's a 1/2" cpvc coupler. Like many of my mods, the cpvc coupler and the pvc over it are metal lathed down to fit perfectly. Then, each piece is set in place with all purpose pvc/cpvc cement.

The tricky part, to get the glue flat. First, I sprayed one half of the shell with lots of silicone spray on the inside. This prevents the glue from sticking to it. Next, I applied a liberal amount of hot glue. I think I probably used 10-15 sticks. Next, I took a utility knife with a brand new blade and cut the hot glue as close as I could to the shell. I used a drum sander for the curvy part. Next, I filled in the accidental deep cuts with Bondex Spackling Paste. After that, it's primer then sand, primer then sand. It takes time, but the results speak for themselves.

"Well, this nitefinder fits me perfectly."

Agreed.

It's gorgeous. I don't think I have to say you did a good job. ;)

Hey, on the 3rd to last picture, how did you not use the other 2 parts that connect to it?

Haha, yes, I cheated. I have a metal lathe here at home. I nested half of a cpvc coupler inside of pvc. I then lathed the pvc down to take the place of the orange pieces. This way, the barrel is practically hit by the plunger head, maximizing range.

I'm smelling a typo here. Titans get 250', not Nite Finders. Unless you just kick ass. But with that simple mod, it doesn't look capable of outshooting a Crossbow.

I'm guessing the black paint works the same way racing stripes do.

Through Jacobson's Theory Of Awesome, adding black paint and or racing stripes to anything, will change it's molecular composition to that of pure awesome. With this new arrangement you gain unimaginable superpowers...

example

Dodge Neon - Suck
Dodge Neon with racing stripes - Awesome

Nitefinder stock - Meahh, it's ok
Nitefinder with Carrtoon black paintjob - I need to check my pants

It's science as you can tell.

In all seriousness, that NF is amazing.

Dodge Neon's with racing stripes on the other hand...not so much.

Sweet. I like how small and compact it is, and the angled front, adds to the overall sex visual appeal.

Very inspiring! I'm modding my second NF and you have given me some new ideas about how to attach a barrel and reinforce the plunger tube.

So what length barrels do you use on that thing?

Is that wheathering just from an insane amount of useage or purely cosmetic, cause either way, it's beastly.

Hey, thanks. The weathering is done with a knife and fine grit sandpaper. The barrels I use are about 5 or 6 inches long. I don't have any reason to believe this couldn't hit 100' flat. With this mod, pretty much any nitefinder should, though I have not tested ranges with this particular one.
