Man I have a TON of rare cards. I'll sell them cheap if you are interested. I had and still have a white and blue deck that I've never lost yet. I won a tournament in sixth grade and won $100 plus one of those rare Avatar of Angels or something like that.
That game was a blast.

Actually, Magic is still going strong, the Wizards company just came out with a new set called Future Sight a few weeks ago.Oh, man I remember that. Isn't that old now?

I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

A buddy of mine has one of those super rare black lotus cards in mint condition. He has been playing for a really long time and he is 24 now. He refuses to sell it. He calls it his investment because the price keeps going up.
Hell yeah, I had a buddy who had a few of them (not kidding) and did the black lotus first turn kill trick. It was ridiculous.
I also had another friend who had two serra avatars in the same deck that he was using. Yeah, I definitely love some of the older cards... new ones are getting all these weird abilities. I haven't played since high school, but my favorite route to play has to be either red/green or counterspells.

I haven´t played in a few months, been busy with school, so my T2 decks don´t have future sight, and I played a lot of T1.5 and T1.x anyways.

Anyway, yeah, if it's your first time playing, your best bet is the Starter Set of whichever edition is the current core, I think they come with instructional CD-Roms now.
I started playing around Nemesis, but stopped for a while around Mirrodin. Artifact block for the lose :/ Picked it back up somewhere in the Kamigawa cycle though, and my Red/Black deck is still a ton of fun to play.
I'd gladly connect for a match over Magic Workstation, just gotta get a deck built in it ^^

It's also a good idea to pick up Magic Workstation or Apprentice- I don't know how current Apprentice's card list is- and play around with decks on there.

Just my opinion. If Iwere you I would get cards first, a starter kit like daedalin said is quite a good idea.
I was playing with my titan, and I found my dads shotgun shells. The shottyshell shot fine but when it hit that rock it exploded.
You should have shot at yourself. You would have won a Darwin Award.

Thanks guys, whats the usual price on Starter kits because I can find one on eBay for 15 shipped. I intend to be Black/White or Black/Green
That's a fairly good deal, I'd go with it.
Black/Green can be a nasty combination. Card control plus big creatures usually spells doom for most people.

Getting back on topic... nope. It's crazy how long it has survived though. Trading card games are an addictive but expensive hobby.
