Thanks guys.

This is a tragedy in American history. So for today, forget any and all of your college affiliation. For today, we are all Hokies.

Ya, the first thing that popped into my head for people I know that go there, was Shinny. This is so brutal and seriously people need to stop and think..
These were people of our generation too, young adults; teenagers; KIDS. That's just an eye opener and really makes me drop everything else and give my heart out to those who lost their lives today. And I'm glad TIS is safe and everyone who managed to get away safely, but much love to those who lost their lives today when they went to school to help make a better tomorrow for us. I mean, I'm a senior right now and going through the whole process of figuring out what I want to do with my life, and these people woked there ASS off and got into Virginia Tech and would later earn themselves a career after all their hard work in school and college. I show mad love for that (mad as in good, I have a heavy-slang, my bad :/ ).

Anyways, I was born with a Christian family and overtime I've developed my own beliefs, but I don't really call myself Christian anymore. But when it comes down to it, I will respect and downright pray from the lives lost and the families of those.

I'll smoke to it. ;)

Love to all. *wub ^_^

For those requesting prayer, you have it and then some.

I am a student at a Christian University. We have chapel services every monday wednesday and friday. During this morning's service, one of the people leading on stage called for anyone who knew anyone who might have been involved to come up and put one of the hundreds of stones we have near the stage up on the front table. Three of us went up. I can't by any means say I "know" shindig, but that doesn't matter.

The fact of that matter is my entire university spent half an hour in prayer this morning. I don't doubt we'll have a special requests list on the wall soon related to the incident. Matt, I'll remember your request.

God bless, everyone. Take care.

I'm alive. I'll post more later.

Like many here, this was the first place I went when I heard the news. Glad to hear you weren't on campus at the time.

Why did the school take so long to send the emails about the shooting? Also its scary of how the shooter did the shooting so calmly. My prayers to the family of who got shot also...

Rambo sent me a IM in the afternoon after the shooting. He told me what happened, and like many of you, my thoughts went out to TIS. Rambo also told me that Boltsniper attended Virginia Tech, and so I had you two and the rest of the school in my prayers throughout the day.

I'm glad that everyone we know here on the NIC is ok, and I will continue to pray for the Virginia Tech community.
I hope that everything returns to normal as soon as it can for you guys out there.

My mind finally put the peg into the hole. It has been nagging at me since I heard about the shooting that I know someone that goes to VTech. Then it hit me. Glad to see that you are safe and sound Shinny. Hope to see you sometime in the future.

I will speak a blessing for all those hurt by this event. May the Gods watch over you all and guide you through your recoveries.

Rambo is fucking retarded. Also, Boltsniper already posted. The dude is older than I am and graduated before TIS ever got there. Get your shit straight

So just because someone is older than 23 means they can't be in college? Don't be such an ass.

Boltsniper said that he had classes at certain parts of VT, though never really said that he no longer attended there. I suppose I misread his post, but I don't really see that as grounds to get loud with me (for lack of a better word.) I don't know much about Boltsniper outside of his homemades, so I just trusted Rambo's fact. Didn't mean to piss anyone off, if I did.

To make this post relevant to the topic though, what do you guys think about the videos they showed on the news about the killer? I saw clips of them on Fox news at my girlfriend's house, and I think it still might be a little soon to be showing that detailed of video on national TV this soon after such a tragedy.

My fear about showing this footage is as follows:

1) The immediate popularity and recognition of this individual as an anti-celebrity doesn't help those now in the process of healing. On top of this, this piece of shit killed 30+ people and his intentions were to have these photos and videos shared with the public. This deranged sociopath had his ultimate wishes granted by the company NBC who showed enough of this material to satisfy what this murderer wanted.

Consider what I just said. This kid killed 30 or more people and he wanted to be seen and heard and he wanted to play the role of hero.

What does NBC do? They show this content to the public when it should have been stifled for the sake of not promoting what this kid did and what he wanted.

On all counts this kid won thanks to NBC. He killed 30 people. He killed himself. And now he's on TV in all the glory he fashioned for himself.

NBC should have reported this shit but not shown it.

2) Whats up with the terrorist rhetoric? He called the Columbine killers martyrs and made a martyr video tape documenting his rationale for murdering people. This is stuff we see out of organizations like al-Sahab (al-Qaeada's in house PR department) and PLO suicide bombings.

This is self-aggrandizement in accordance with body counts. Unbelievable.

3) Showing this content could inspire others to become "martyrs".

4) The political vultures are already lending their agendas to this human tragedy.

5) I wish this kid had survived his self-inflicted gunshot wound and was paralyzed for life only to live as a vegetable. I don't believe in hell but its times like these that I would like to.

I have watched all the videos and seen all the pictures on NBC. To me, this kid is a rambling incoherent lunatic, who really can't put his thoughts together in a coherent package. His so called "belief" he was spewing and "anti-rich people" hatred were vain attempts at putting a cause behind what he did. Don't take this the wrong way, but Eric and Dylan made more sense at Columbine than this spaz did. I have seen kids just like him and actually, he reminds me of my friend's old roommate. The only thing that would make this kid more cliche is if he had a MySpace full of nothing but bands no one has ever heard of and a few random hot chicks that are just spammers anyway.

What it boils down to is a disturbed individual trying to pass he buck and justify what he did. My favorite lines are "you made me do it" or "I was backed into a corner" or "there's blood on your hands." Really asshole? Way to be cliche, and about as vague as you can get. You aren't justifying anything. No one attacked you dipshit. Go outside or join a team. No one is to blame about not making friends except your lame ass.

Last points:

1) Rambo and I just bicker back and forth. Sorry it kind of spilled over here. No harm done.

2) If I hear one more person blaming anyone or ANYTHING besides this psycho himself (ie violent media, video games, rock n' roll) I'm going to lose my fucking mind.

By the way, I heard this wackjob's sister goes to Princeton. Maybe Rawray can fill us in on anything going on there.

Amen to that. Personal Responsibility all the way.

This was a tragedy and there's no explanation for it other than Cho went crazy. Nobody could have predicted it. It just happened, now we have to pick up the pieces and try to deal with what's going on in our minds.

This seems especially hard on college campuses, where people feel safe for the most part.

I stopped watching the news Tuesday afternoon. I don't want to see or hear this shit for at least two more days. The posts above and people have filled me in on the killer.

I'm going to leave this post on a positive note. Here is a picture of the candle light vigil at Virginia Tech:

That's awesome!

We had a prayer vigil here at PC that was also well attended. We ran out of candles, it was cool.
