so my friends and i just got the magstrike and longshot and are gonna have a short battle just around the perimeter of the house, so that mainly means short range combat. there are 2 teams both with 2 players, and our gun options are:

longshot
magstrike
dart tag blaster
dart tag blaster

so each player gets a pick at one. theres alot of cover,s o which gun would be the best to use?

*sorry for thy n00bish post ^_^ *

Not noobish at all. This thread actually has a point.

In my opinion I would use longshots because that would be a ton of fun to have 4 people all with a longshot. If you all use different guns then it wouldn't be equal.

Or you can have 1 person on each team with a longshot and the other with a magstrike. (ETC...)

So good luck and have fun.

And welcome to the forums.

heh, thnx. i have a feeling ill get owned mainly from the fact that the the team with the long shot will just stand in the little tower thin gin the backyard and just eat shit us. i guess the best tactic would be to take out the other dart tag blaster user and flank the longshot user.

Since it's close quarters, using a long blaster is probably a bad idea, so that rules out the longshot. And also, the longshot has a lower ammo capacity than both other types of Nerf gun available to you, so that's another point against it.

Though the magstrike is great for close quarters, the reload time may be a problem. If you get rushed while trying to pump it 20-30 times and reload a magazine (or is it a clip in the MSs case, as it goes into the top of the gun, and the whole thing moves?) you're toast. So unless you have a sidearm or practice shooting short (2-4 round) bursts and then repriming, and always have enough ammo to keep both magazines loaded, using the magstrike is not the greatest idea.

The Dart Tag Blaster has the same ammo capacity as the magstrike, and a shorter repriming time. It is also a lot more compact than the Longshot. So, in this situation I would have to say that the DTS is probably the best way to go.

If it was a long range battle, I'd advise using the longshot. If sidearms were available, I'd say the Magstrike.

Im usually playing airsoft and paintball, really very new to nerf wars so my tactics may not be good for nerf. I have to agree with cooldood. However, the long shot does break down to be shorter, and I think it is more acurate than the dtb as well as shoots the darts at a higher fps(least between my two moded ones the longshot shoots the stephen at a higher fps), so I think thats still a good choice. As cooldood pointed out, the magstrike takes far too long to load if you dont manage your ammo or keep it primed so I would say no to the magstrike just for that reason. Its far too easy to get trigger happy in the midst of war.

Well, first off, are these guns stock or are they modded?
If they're stock, then the Longshot doesn't have a very big range advantage on the other guns, so it's main advantage is pretty much gone.

A well modded Magstrike gets really good ranges with great RoF. The DTG's are like a single shot Magstrike, and they might get lower ranges. The Longshot would have the range advantage out of those guns.

Since you said you just got the guns, I'm probably going to assume they are either stock, or lightly modified. Based on that, I would probably choose the Magstrike just because it has more ammo (2 clips before reloading) and more RoF than the DTG's or Longshot, but it has slightly lesser ranges.

Oh yeah, if the guns arent modded that changes alot of things. An unmodded Longshot is almost useless at what its supposed to do. I should also ask if your planning on using the dart tag darts, if so then definitely dont use the longshot as they jam in it(thank you opening bolt cover). If unmodded then the longshot is right out, as I have no respect for its stock performance. Ill be honest, I dont even have the magstrike yet, but after playing with a modded(well suposedly modded one) ms, Id still have to say use the dtb. As mine was still pretty accurate when stock. Though that could have been a series of flukes. You may have noticed I like to rely on accuracy alot, in my experience accuracy has won more skirmishes than rof.

I own the magstrike, and I would have to say that if all the guns are stock, and it is close quarters, then the magstrike would own everything. I also own the dart tag blaster and in my opinion, it is a good secondary to the magstrike (as I do not own a pistol yet, 2 splitfires on their way). If you can though, put 6 layers of e-tape on the side, to keep the magazine from sliding down into the gun.

Yes, it would if you shoot correctly. But, once you reload you will get OWNED by EVERYONE. I would really choose the DTG for a war. I say that because it has a 10-shot capacity and has a good range and accuracy stock and you can just reload some empty barrels if the opponents are out of sight/range.

Assuming the guns are all stock, I'd say your best bet lies with the magstrike. Just try to bait everyone else into taking stupid shots, make effective use of cover to advance, and once you're within twenty feet you can destroy them. Just keep in mind that reloading a magazine takes forever, so don't let them bait you into taking those stupid shots I mentioned.

In order of usefulness I would have to say this:

-3rd: Longshot
It has a nice reload time with its clips and OK range, but there are a couple things to factor in. First of all, the stokc longshot isn't really accurate and the darts can curve unexpectedly. Also, if you empty the 2 clips you will get owned by you opponents. The gun is also pretty bulky even without the add-ons. Warning: You might lose your darts too.

-2nd: Magstrike
It has the best ROF of an Nerf gun and gets fine range. The clip helps a lot and you can reload while your teammate covers you. Not the most accurate, but ,hey, 10 shots is hard to dodge. This is also the second most bluky gun so running might be harder.

-1st: DTB
This would be my choice. It has 10 shots with reloading and is pretty accurate. The range is good stock and the size is small and compact. It is useful for dodging, covering fire, and just plain "shooting" people. You can also reload easily during short pauses.

I have to agree with NiteWalker here. The DTB is great! It has the ten shots that can last you a little bit if you don't just go off and fire of all 10 shots in record time. The accuracy is pretty good for a stock blaster. You could even take the air restrictors and barrel posts out if you felt comfortable doing that for improved range. Hope you have a good time with your battle.

I would have one man use the longshot to eat shit, and another use the magstrike cover him and keep enemies at bay.

The Longshot would be the worst choice even if it was modded.

Unmodded, the longshot gets inferior ranges, ROF, and accuracy to the other guns, and it is very large for an indoor war.

Modded, the Longshot is still useless in this situation. Modded Longshots are not good for close quarters combat. You don't need any range indoors, and the Longshot's extra power will break things and cause severe welts at such close ranges. (My Longshot, for example, dents dry-wall, so I only use it outdoors.)

It depends on personal preference whether you choose the DTG or Magstrike. Since you will be playing 2 on 2 (I think that's what you said), if you choose the Magstrike, you'll have back-up from your buddy with the DTG while you're reloading, so you shouldn't have to worry too much about reload time.

The DTG has virtually no weaknesses indoors, it has good ROF, short reload time (especially if you pick up ammo off the floor as you shoot), and the range it gets is perfect for indoors.

It's really up to you, if you want to get OWNED, choose the Longshot, if you want to unleash hails of bullets, choose the Magstrike, and if you want the freedom of not having to pump up the gun every time you empty a clip, choose the DTG. Only choose the Longshot if it's modded and you're nerfing outside.

Personally, I choose the DTG every time. :(
