I was wondering the names of any guns that use chains. Also if they have descent ranges to them?

Well maybe not exact ranges, but do they at least get some distance like about 20 to 30 feet?

There is no real reason to buy a chain-gun, unless it is really cheap, or you have a lot of chains to go with. 8 consecutive 50 ft. shots is not really that good. The main-point is to have good ROF. Nerfcenter.com has reviews for the razorbeast, chainblazer, and rototrack. I saw a rototrack go for $62 on ebay with one chain. THat is pretty expensive.

I would have to agree with Bob that if you don't have any chains don't bother. Most auctions I've seen for chain guns don't come with chains. I have a chainblazer and a razorbeast and have 3 chain links to share between them. So there's really no point for me to ever use either of those guns. Not to mention I haven't seen anyone selling individual chains in quite some time.

I guess I'll be the one to ask the question. Why so interested in chain guns?

I got my first chain gun last weekend and i love it i got it from goodwill with 22 shots worth of chain a defender D3 pistol and a hidden shot for $3.50 i love goodwill super stores. I modded a few of the chain links with cpvc and im getting 40-55 with it. I would use it in a war over a pc or magstrike because its got great ROF and does not just waste ammo.

Well if I could find a gun for cheap like that id take it but $60! Are you serious I dont even pay that much for like anything besides skateboards and crap like that. The main reason is because I thought it would be great to have a gun that shoots 50 feet with a chain of like atleast 10 shots.

If you want that, buy a 10 shot DTG or the new rapid fire rifle that assassinnf modded. The DTG has been known for ranges up to 65 ft. Assassinnf said he thought the rapid fire rifle could even get 100 ft. Here's a link. Neither are chain-fed, but do have high ammo capacity. The DTG is in a two pack at Target for $32 and the rapid fire rifle has to be pucrchased online for around $30.

In my post I said it was probably capable of 80'. I don't know about 100'. Maybe it you modded the shit out of it and added a BBB spring...

But yeah, it does have high ammo capacity, and it's awesome. It takes quite a while to shoot all 12 shots unless you're just randomly spraying bullets. I usually don't use all 12 shots in shorter rounds of Nerf.

Also, the Rapidfire shotgun can be found at Gander Mountain.

I think I will just keep my eyes open for any that pops up. Also I have an idea that ive been thinking about for a while. If you get the Buzz Bee Toy's Shells and you get string or fishing line to hold some together. It would create a chain that you could put in a Rapid Fire Rifle. All you would have to do is have a box to have the loaded shells and then have another box that will flip open with velcrow or something for the already shot shells.

Heres a picture of what i was thinking:

Someone did make a chain out of copper tubing, and I think that you can make the shells out of CPVC and PVC.

Look at a KB toys, and if you need more shells, I have 4 (possibly 8) that I could sell to you.

Just an idea: If you try making a chain, I suggest using duct or electrical tape instead of string for linking the shells together. It'd be quicker and easier to make, and would probably be less prone to jamming/twisting

No offence but do you know how the rapidifre rifle works? You can't just put a chain in it and hope it works.
The yellow rod thingy is pushing the shells into the firing chamber , so if you have attached all the shells to each-other the strings are just going to snap. You need to allow the shells to go into the chamber and then eject and this is not that easy. If you have a good idea how to fix this please tell me.

Does posting in agreement somehow validate your standing in the community? Personally I think it just makes you look like a tool.

I dont think that tape would work Gyrvalcon because of the rounded shells having to be in the gun one at a time. Also for anders, your right string would snap but if you use fishingline im pretty sure it will work. And of course I would use alittle heavier fishing line so I know that it wouldnt snap.

I personally don't understand why tape wouldn't work. Have you done any chain yet with fishing line? I tried, but it was extremely fiddly to work with. My proof of concept for the tape was easy and quick to do because there weren't any miniscule knots of near invisible material. Of course, I might be missing something crucial in how this chain has to function.

My rough example of what I am thinking:

I see what you were going to make with tape. I thought you were going to do something diffrent with the tape. I tried fishing line too, it worked, but it was to time consuming.

I thought you were going to do something different with the tape too. That will work, but I would use a fabric instead (more sturdy and will last longer).
