You mean the magstrike? The stock gun is crap and can only weakly empty one clip right out of the box after 20 or 30 pumps. However, it becomes an extremely fun weapon after some essential modifications are made. Mainly replacing the over-pressure valve on the bladder with a bolt and plenty of epoxy sealant then plugging the vent hole in the piece that meets up against the back of the clip.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Well, the essentials (as outlined in this thread) are plugging the hole in this winged piece to keep the compressed air from escaping when each dart is fired.

And replacing the over-pressure valve peg (the green thing picture below) with a #6-32 screw and lots of hot glue.
Posted Image
Then add a layer or two to the sides of the clips so that you can partially empty the clip and not have it drop back down.

Then you should be able to empty 2 clips after pumping 40 to 45 times.

Yeah. Follow Forsaken Angel's mod. He got his to go 70', I think it was. Though more can be done, and ranges can be improved. And his tests were done during a windy day.
Read through that write up first, and make sure you go through the whole thread, since there are various updates.
If you can do all those steps in the mod, I highly recommend the gun.

Cap, I have to disagree with you on this one, as far as stock goes.

Frankly, I got into Nerfing a little late in the game (2001). As in missed out on the Powerclip.

The Magstrike was the answer to the desire for a fully-automatic Nerf blaster. My nephew had the fortune to acquire a RapidFire 20, and I got my e-mail from Toys-R-Us that my 4 RF20s were ready for delivery if I was still interested...11 months after being put on a waiting list.

Basically, I'm just tickled that we have a fully automatic, clip-fed, 2nd generation Powerclip. I'm definitely interested in most of F_A24's modifications, but for now, my son is happy just imitating Arnold Schwarzenegger around the house. EFFYBAAHDY DAAOOWN!

Perhaps for the P-clip owners, they're not thrilled, but for us who missed out, we get the second chance.

I too got in on Nerf late in the game around 2001, and really INTO it in 2002.

I would like to say though, the Magstrike is one hefty weapon if I may say so.

After modifications done that were listed above, and replacing the barrels with 1/2 inch brass*, I get a good 70 feet. The only problems I have had, is the hotglue on the bolt in the over pressure release valve. I seem to not be able to get the glue to stay on, so I turned to epoxy. I highly suggest this.

I did aquire a PC, but it has failed finally on me. It was a great gun. With only about 35 of 40 feet of range, it wasn't a great gun to scare the enemy off, but it was a great gun to catch the enemy with their back turned gets them to jump.

In my opinion, I love my Magstrike. I've heard a bunch of people that complain about not being able to empty a whole clip.

I, On the other hand, Love my magstrike. Even though the ranges suck(stock) I still like it better then most other (stock) guns.

Then the Debate comes up. PC or Magstrike. I have never had a PC but I have fired a couple before and I would have to say that I like the Magstrike better. Even though that makes sense that a newer gun would be superior to an older gun, I would still have to say that the MS is better. B)

Cap, I have to disagree with you on this one, as far as stock goes.

Like all of the recent Nerf releases the stock guns are extremely neutered for safety reasons. The magstrike more-so than a number of the others. But one opening of the gun and only some minor changes are enough to make it a far more attractive weapon.
My stock Magstrike couldn't shoot much further than a Maverick. But it didn't take very long (for me anways) to fix that.

I love it too. I'm just not someone who will ever be perfectly happy with a stock weapon.

I just got ahold of a magstrike two weeks ago. I haven't opened it up yet, though I'll get to that in time.

I was impressed with its stock ranges, though I agree with CaptainSlug that they're just about the same as an ideal Maverick's. (My measurements are horribly crude; I judge a gun by how close I can get a dart to the bathroom doorway from across the basement. Maverick almost makes it. Magstrike barely made it. Modded Longshot almost got darts in the toilet.)

I'm afraid I got used to the RF20 though, so firing off a clip from the Magstrike feels like it jammed halfway or something. B)

Pros: Automatic fire, uses clips for fast reloads, comfortable for adult nerfers, sounds really intimidating, comes in two colors! :D

Cons: Nearly the size of the RF20 but with a lower ammo capacity, seems to require more pumping, looks like a paintball gun (I only mention this because people are more liable to get upset at the sight of a paintball gun than a Nerf one), constructed in a way that makes clip-capacity mods much more difficult.

To get back the RF20's capacity, I'd almost like to bolt two magstrikes together side-by-side with a central trigger.

It wasn't really all that hard.

You have to
1. Join the clips so that the tooth spacing is continuous and the joined halves are mated squarely.
2. Cut open the lower part of the front of the gun so that the new 20-round clip be go all the way down (the belt clip on the top of the clip keeps it from dropping through)
3. Relocate or replace the stock pump.
