Okay, I am currently working on a nerf gun simular to Boltsniper's F.A.R. except without magazine and shells. The problem is, when I fire, the bullet doesnt even leave the barrel, the o-ring seal (plunger) is good so I think it is leaking between the bolt and the barrel. Help!!

I do not get your paint drawing at all but.... Since your gun is single shot why would you not just use brass?
No.

Well, adding an O-ring where your arrow is pointing could help. Considering that it's probably not a great seal and has a lot of are excaping like on the longshot with that stupid little hole...

I forgot to add, I already have an o-ring there. The way my bolt works is that there is a coupler wrapped with electric tape that is glued inside a 1" PVC. The o-ring is on the coupler. I think i'll try to put another one on the pipe instead.

You pictures do not work. I am not building a F.A.R. the bolt is not the same. It's hella different and easier to build because I dont need those annoying ejecting systems (grr it didn't work when I tried to make it).

Check all your seals, and maybe redo them if you can. They may seem fine, but even a hair's width difference can make a difference. Otherwise, you shouldn't have any problems, because what you said sounds like you have some compression, but not enough, = leaks.

I am going to add an extention spring, like the F.A.R. It will then put more pressure on the o-rings for a perfect seal.

Check for cracks in the bolt and barrel. Seal any holes up with super glue or electrical tape, and then make sure that your O-rings are large enough to fit on the bolt, but form a nice, tight fit. A brass barrel like Bone suggested would greatly reduce pressure loss.

You'll also want to check that the dart can't slide out of the barrel. If the barrel is removeable, then take it out and put a dart in the end the bolt connects. If the dart slides out without any force, then it is too small. If it gets caught on the way in, it's too big. The only reason I put these basics up here is that I overlook stupid shit in my work all the time.

You're new, by your admission, so I'll count these as "1" and "2" (chip tortellini's post is fairly recent, so it's not a dead topic being raised)....

It's NOT a good idea to post in old topics. I know you're probably doing research about making your homemade shotgun, which is wise. But posting in the discussion topic brings it back up in the active (usually top 10) subjects being discussed.

It's like you coming in and saying, "Hey, how about them Marlins!"

Everyone here would respond with, "WTF?"

Your response, "yeah, they won the Series in 2003!"

It's bringing up a dead issue.

Six-Five-two abandoned his FAR project, having built other homemades successfully. AODL hasn't posted anything since his SCAR-N intention, and he's caught up with his Longshot, so it's likely he never followed through. See how it works?

Avoid posting in any subjects that are more than a month old, unless you have something VERY SIGNIFICANT to add to it. Otherwise, if it's that important for you to share with everyone on the board, make a new topic post.

And it doesn't seem like you might have read the whole Code of Conduct, it's pretty much covered in there. We're crackin' down, but I'll give you one redeeming opportunity.

Actually Pineapple, I just have to glue the barrel in place and add a trigger system, both of which are pretty easy. But I wish I wasn't an idiot and thought about what to do and have a design instead of just building it... big big mistake.

I suggest to any new people here NOT TO MAKE A PLUNGER GUN FIRST. Especially the FAR or SCAR. Make a ball valve gun first.

...Someone should lock this, I think I fixed the problem.
