Heres a very simple, yet powerful mod.
I took an ordinary Secret Shot II, and did also the standard mods, pluggin valve and also i cut of the barrel and removed air restrictor.
After this, I glued a 1/2 inch pvc as a new barrel and thats it!
I shoot megas and when they hit someone, you can tell it hurts like a mother...
Although the range is not as good, around 68 ft. the power or the joules is around 1.6 joules, yes I did some math. So the power behind this gun is incredibly strong, and it makes a perfect sidearm "Magnum."
Heres some pics:

Nice. If I could get my hands on one of those, that would be the first thing I did.

Not to be a science geek but I just had a question regarding how you calculated the "power" of the blaster. You reported a number in Joules (a measure of work). If I recall, one equation for measuring this is:
work = force (in Newtons) x distance (in metres)

How did you calculate force (if this is the equation you used)? Cause if there's an easy way, this might be a cool metric to use when reporting ranges for my mods (I live in the city, where I don't have the required distance for outdoor range testing).

edit: it occurred to me that force = mass x acceleration. Mass can be measured with a pretty high precision electronic balance but I imagine acceleration must be even trickier to measure.

A joule is one newton acting over one meter.

Cool mod.

That looks like a cool mod as well. However, at risk of going off-topic, I am wondering how you came to determine that the "power" is 1.6 joules. Here's what I'm wondering:

1) The power of what? The force of the air on the dart? Or the force of the dart as it strikes the target?

2) How did you measure this? As previously stated, joules = mass * acceleration * distance. Mass and distance of the dart are of course theoretically easy to find. Acceleration can be calculated from the initial and ending velocities, but how would you go about determining the initial velocity of the dart (i.e., the velocity as the dart leaves the barrel)?

3) If you managed to find all this data, then the air friction could probably be calculated. This would be cool, as it would provide additional information for crafting homemade darts.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

When you say mega darts, do you mean nerf, or stefan darts?

While we're on the topic of SSII's, I'd like to throw this in:

I took mine apart the other day because it had a leak (I get no pressure when i pump, and as i pump i can hear a hissing noise) and i wanted to try to fix it. But when i opened it up, instead of seeing the bladder i was expecting -- like the one in my wildfire -- there was this plastic capsule that the plunger tube fed into, and it seemed to be sealed pretty tight, so i didn't want to pry it apart and see what's inside.

Has this ever happened to anybody, and if so, do you know how to fix it?

Oh yeah, sweet mod -- if i can fix this piece, i'm definitely going to do that.

Thanks.

Nice basic mod on the SS2. You're not going to get very good ranges by using stock nerf darts, especially megas. If you use stefans, you'll be able to get 100' easy, and zeros could get you up to 130'. I'd give you the link to Zero Talent's website but I can't find the working link. Just another route you could take to get more range and use the gun's full potential.

And as for that SS2 leak, sometimes you need to get the first two or three pumps off fast to make a seal. So if that isn't the problem, PM me Skiermon and tell me what you did to your gun, I'll help you out as much as I can.
