Don't call it a comeback, I never left.

Baghead, I hope you're right about the guns... anyone in the midwest knows nerfing is only really feasible outside for about six months, then the wet and the cold comes. I'm pretty excited about having more options to John Woo out in the field.

"Thank you...I...I love you."
I can't wait to get my hands on a Longshot. Modding the Rapid Fire Rifle is probably a nice bit of practice for messing around with the LS...
Bolt action! It's been awhile, hasn't it? It's appropriate for the gun too, I'd say. Easier for a prone marksman to pull a bolt than to lift up the arm and cock it overhand like a Maverick/Firefly. :K)

Up here in MI, I was nerfing while the Temperature dropped to 5 degrees with a negative windchill, in the snow.Baghead, I hope you're right about the guns... anyone in the midwest knows nerfing is only really feasible outside for about six months, then the wet and the cold comes.
That longshot even got hardcore paintballers want to NERF.

Talio told me that the LS wasnt as powerfull with the pistol attached to the front. If thats any indication of an actual extened barrel thats the same length as the main, I dont know. Just what Talio saw.Okay, now after putting those two pictures on the screensaver of my office comp, I'm intrigued and inquisitive.
Notice how long the "barrel" is on the Longshot. Judging by the location of the clip and the charging/ loading handle, that dart has a pretty long way to go before it leaves the barrel...or does it?
I'm guessing that some of that barrel might be "free float", kind of like how the Double Shot has fairly long barrels, but all of the power is basically from the couple inches of shell that the dart sits in; the rest is free air space that the dart flies through.
All speculation, as you know.

It makes sense that it would lose power with the extra barrel length.Talio told me that the LS wasnt as powerfull with the pistol attached to the front. If thats any indication of an actual extened barrel thats the same length as the main, I dont know. Just what Talio saw.
Typically, a Nerf weapon is barrel-loaded. It only has between 4 and 12 inches of barrel to travel through, depending on whether the user has added an extension or not.
The Longshot chambers the dart very far down the barrel. If I'm judging the scale correctly, the dart has to travel through around two-feet worth of barrel before exiting the weapon.
That's a hell of a lot of extra friction. Removing the front gun looks like it cuts about a foot off that barrel length-- still a nice, long barrel, but not long-to-the-point-of-ridiculous.

It sure looks wicked, though.

This is a great set because, it's got two clips included in one set and are fully removable. Also, you'll probably be able to buy extra clips at the store! Which would be awesome, because you could load up on a few extra clips.
This looks like a heads up for the likelyness of better and cooler guns in the future.
Though the Magstrike is sure to be a pleaser, I must disagree with the Longshot just for my reasons. It looks way to ovrsized, modding capabilities may be low, and I just think it's a waste.
So in conclusion, I can't wait for the Magstrike

Not sure if you knew this, but the Longshot is actually two guns. Not so oversized without the silly front-gun attachment.Though the Magstrike is sure to be a pleaser, I must disagree with the Longshot just for my reasons. Your speculation causes me to speculate.....I'm guessing that some of that barrel might be "free float", kind of like how the Double Shot has fairly long barrels, but all of the power is basically from the couple inches of shell that the dart sits in; the rest is free air space that the dart flies through.
All speculation, as you know.
What's to say that the bolt pullback distance is 1:1 with the plunger? I could image there being some kind of lever/pinion system, leveraging that apparent 3" pull into something more. There's already gearing going on to chamber a dart...why not something to give more of an advantage to the plunger?

I'm a little woried about the pistol at the end of the Long Shot, b/c the seem between that and the actual gun will probably screw with the dart as it goes through the barrel, so I'm going to leave it off.
(Drooling...)
Probably dead by now, or something.

Oh yes, I did not notice that and studied the gun a little bit more. Now that I looked at it more it does look cooler and seem to be better than I thought, but I'd still never like it.Not sure if you knew this, but the Longshot is actually two guns. Not so oversized without the silly front-gun attachment.Though the Magstrike is sure to be a pleaser, I must disagree with the Longshot just for my reasons. Thanks for the pointer, I'll read more carefully next time I post.

Thanks for the pictures OMC, those look awsome!
I think the Longshot would look like a Halo 2 Battle Rifle if you leave the scope on and took off the pistol attached to the front.

On another note, assuming the plunger of the LS is only 3" in length, then the barrel w/o that silly little pistol that I would make a holster for, would be more/less 6", right? and I would prosume that the diameter of the barrel extention on the pistol would be larger than the actual dart, thus not greatly interferring with ranges.
I think that the plunger on the LS would be similar to the NF (original) and could be powerful enough to push the dart through the barrel. It makes no sense for Hasbro to make the "pride and joy" of their Nerf line be a piece of crap.
The LS looks coll and I hope that it has the performance to match.
If I every get onto the field this year or next, piece of crap or lethal foam launcher of doom, you will definitely find me with a LS and a MS as a secondary.
Hasbro has worked hard to develop these guns, and so I think they deserve at least a test in the field.
EDIT: The longshot seems to be about 18" long.
