Hey everyone. I am pretty much a newby to nerf and all but I just got a Maverick and it reawakened my nerf roots.

If anyone could tell me where I could find a BlastFire or similar assault gun that would be much appreciated.

Also if anyone could tell me some guns that my friends and I should try to get and ways to mod them that would be cool too. Like I said, I am just starting out and need a bit of a boost.

You can get a Hornet (essentually a BlastFire remake) in the Unity Power System (3 guns for $40) at most toy stores.

I found just the two smaller guns on ebay for like 25 dollars.

Should I go with that instead? I can't really see myself using the bazooka.

When modified, the Titan (the "bazooka") can shoot over 200 feet.

But whatever floats your boat. Personally, I could never imagine using a gun that strong.

If you're only looking for the BF or Hornet, go for whichever's cheapest (the choices being the N-Strike set or just the two on eBay). I have a Titan but am actually pretty disappointed with it. It shoots great, well over 100' and with nearly pinpoint accuracy but I'd never use it. They've been banned from all (as far as I know) major wars and most people don't even use them in small wars of just a few people.

Pick up a pack of Air Tech 2000s (AT2ks) at Target for $10 if they still have them there. They're great guns for a first-time mod and easy to make something up in terms of a mod.

I would say get some NFs but I see you've already got quite a few. Good. The Maverick is quasi-semi-remotely hard to mod; I wouldn't reccomend it until you've got a bit of experience with mods.

Good luck and welcome to NH.

For an "assault" gun, I recomend a Air Tech 3000. 6 shot, auto rotating barrel. Though not semi auto or full, it only takes 3 short pumps to prime. Do cxwq's mod, and you've got yourself a hell of a primary.

Edit: Also, I've heard of Hornets skipping shots and stuff. Not only that, but others say it's pain in the butt to mod.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the hornet at all. Skips shots alot. when you shoot you have to really take your time between shots or the gun gets excited and just craps out and starts skipping shots. All 6 darts shooting at once is cool but even then I have found sometimes it only shoots 4. Maybe my hornet just came to me fucked but I wuld take a nitefinder over it anyday. I have no patience for guns that refuse to work consistantly at their full potential. Especially the unmodded.

Ok is it possible that someone could write me up a list to take to the hardware store to get all the stuff I need to make stephans and also what I need to mod my night finders.

Oh and I modded a couple of old secret shots that I had laying around for some decent results. They still pretty much aren't that good but it gave me some modding practice that I needed before I messed up a gun I paid for.

I will try to get pics later.

I'm not a fan of guns that shoot. My personal favorite is going with a light gun (they call it the AirTech 2000 or something) and cutting the vinyl. That way I can't shoot, but I dodge all the shots and I make my move by running up to (and behind) people and meleeing them. Moxious!

If you can get your hands on a working Blastfire (BF), I'd recommend that any day over the Hornet; I'm not sure about it's reliability (apparently pretty bad), but it's only one shot less for way fewer pumps (5-8). You can also brass mod it ( CXWQ's Mod ) to be even better.

As far as Stefan's, don't forget to use the site's search function. However, here's some links:

Tinkerer's Massive Stefan Tutorial

Langley's Massive Stefan Tutorial

Tinkerer's is more concise and clearly written in my opinion, but Langley's has much more information.

As far as a list, you should create that on your own after reading, but here's a starter list: Foam Backer Rod (FBR)/Caulk Saver (different names in different places), BB's (1/4" steel shot for megas, .133 for micros (though 1/4" are better for micros if it's a powerful gun), hot glue gun (either variable temp or two cheap ones at Wal-Mart: one low-temp and one high-temp, hot glue sticks, and something to put finished darts in while they dry (several small PVC pieces for Megas and micros, or if you have Powerclip (PC) clips laying around, those for micros work too).

You're not alone. My Hornets skipped shots all the time and blast mode didn't always fire all 6. The Scout as mentioned before is not as good as the NF, but the Scout works ok for me. Maybe I should by an NF when I get my Unity Power System and integrate the NF's guts into the Scout. Might be kind of pointless, but oh well. The Titan is a great gun too. But when they say they modify it and get over 100' in range, they probably made it so that the barrel shot darts. So if you use the missles, then they wouldn't be banned from nerf wars. A lot of people try an modify guns that shoot arrows so that they shoot darts instead.

That's bullshit. I mean, give it a shot if you want, but that's a balls hard mod. If you pull it off though, that says alot for your skill.

Let me give you some advice though. Do mods yourself. Tinker around with stuff. See what works, make a mental note of what doesn't. Before you know it, you'll be making good stuff. Also if you can get to a war with other Nerfers, it will do nothing but help you in the long run.

Also, read. Everything. Good luck,

Talio.

My first gun I modded was the Scout. I was afraid of modding it like one of the new members which was why I was asking for specifics on the Scout mod so I wouldn't screw up. I sucessfully modded the sucker. Only problem was that I opened the gun at the wrong angle. Make sure you open up the gun on its side. Otherwise, all the parts of the gun fall out. I did this, but I eventually found out how to put it back together.

Well I have a temporary assault gun for now. I am using an old school larami that has eight barrels that rotate. It is the best firing dart gun I have seen unmodded. Would it be hard to mod it?

Well see yall round.

Whats the color of the gun? If its blue and orange it's a POS. If it's green or yellow then they make great all around weapons. Mod can be found at mayhems site. Which is something like http://www.freewebs.com/wozzy15

That's just funny, no offence but nerf is about guns, but hey, whatever floats your boat

For the write-up all you need is foam backer rod also called caulk saver, it's about the diameter of a normal nerf darts
Hot glue gun and refill glue
