In one area I put basic mods to do to the nite finder to improve range and functionality.
This is not a right up.
1.take out the air restricters (obvious but still).
2.Replace barrel (again obvious but necesary).
3.Replace or strech spring (the often overlooked but very effective thing to do)(Even though it loses its lifespan it increases range and you can just get another spring).
4. Put E- tape under the O-ring on the plunger to get a better seal or you could replace the O-ring with another bigger better sealing O-ring. (often not done).
5.spray silicon spray on the O-ring (Essential).
6. add rubber bands or bungees or surgical tubing (blatantly obvious and most common done).
7. Cut off ammo holders and put brass in the batteries area (more holsterable).
8.cut sights off for faster drawing speed (losing risk of catching on clothing or holster).
9.take out light to make it lighter less weight or to put something else in its place (sspb).
10.Put some RTV silicon sealent on end of plunger head (sound decreased).
11. add a silencer (more silent).
12. Chop off the cocking handle at the end and add a key ring or zip tie or something there to reduce kick. I think I first saw that in Thirst's TTG mod. I don't think it's a problem on NFs too much with kick, but mine does send darts a few inches high and that might help.(props to nerfmoney at hq for this one)
13. add more barrels (ie. ompa's nf20)
Any more basic or more complex mods for the night finder (not right ups) that help to improve range, accuracy, or functionallity please post them or your thoughts and comments.
1,2,3,5,6,10 and 11 can be used in any spring gun.

edit: Personally I did numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9, and 10 and it now has a very very high volocity(sp.) and it looks as though it could leave bruises.

7. Cut off ammo holders and put brass in the batteries area (more holsterable).

If you enjoy the ammo holders and wish to keep them and add more, simply take out the light where it would be and add 3 discs from a lanard disc shooter. Line them up and pop a stefan in there. Voila another ammo holder.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

I just cut 4 little pieces of PETG and shoved them in there and taped it up, it is really practical. I forgot how useful ammo holders were and cut mine off then realized I would want them.

How would that reduce kick? kick is related to spring impact and force, not the cocking bolt.

I have a Scout so I don't know if its all that simular, but the O-ring seems to be at the end of the stock barrel and not the plunger. Obviously, the plunger is what gets pulled back when you cock the gun right?

Richomundo I didn't do that I just copied it as I stated in perenthases(sp.) so I don't know how it works but if someone else did it and claimed it did then it may have or may not have I don't know so don't ask me about that one.

You got to chose either the key ring or rubber bands/surgical tubing. I tried doing both and when I cocked the NF the key ring snapped and broke and it ripped the skin off of my middle finger pretty painful. Not a good idea to have both. Its better to just leave the cocking handle alone and add rubber bands/ surgical tubing for extra power. Its also a good idea to cut off the light and ammo holders so that the NF is smaller and pocket size.

It seems everyone has their own ideas for how to improve the NF. I think the wisest thing to do is to just come up with something on your own. If you see something you like in another mod, do it. Personally, I don't like bands because they warp the plunger rod and are ugly. But thats just my opinion, everyone has something they do for functionality or looks. Cutting off ammo holders may look good, but if you don't have pockets or want a higher ROF, then leave them on. It's all a matter of opinion.

does stretching the spring add a lot of range, and does it add the danger of your gun breaking. Also is it good to add a few more springs that aren't that hard to increase range a little. I've been wondering for a long time what the best range anyones got on a nitefinder is, and how they did it.

"11. add a silencer (more silent). "

Thats utterly false. It does very little if at all. Only thing a silencer would do on a SPRINGER is make it longer and annoying. Silencers really only work on pump blasters. Even then, the ranges you play at doesnt warrent a silencer.

I had stretched by spring for my Scout and the range barly improved, and after a while the tab that locks behind the thing that releases the plunger when you have it pulled back broke! So now my Scout is worthless ^_^

Scouts are worthless when they come out of the box. I got mine to fire stefans 40' by crayolaing it, but the slider broke, so it's crap. Oh wait, it was crap beforehand.

The only Scouts that I have respect for are sexy-painted ones. For example, I don't know if he ever posted it, but macgyver on NHQ has a sexy black and silver Scout.
