Hello, I just found this website after hearing about "Nerf modifications" when I bought an N-Strike and Maverick a week ago. For the past week, I've been learning about weapon modifications. The only thing left for me to do is go and purchase an appropriate gun for my play style, but the problem is, I don't know which one to get. Unfortunately, getting ahold of any old guns is going to be hard for me so I would need something fairly recent.

I've played paintball and airsoft; I find myself not assaulting the enemy, but not losing them either. I need something for short to medium range combat. I can get a hold of "Big Bad Bow" from a friend, should I choose this as my primary gun?

I think you'll find that the Airtech 2000 probably suits you best. It's readily available (two pack at Target for $10), has decent ROF (four barrels), and great range (70-80ft). Perfect for medium range stuff.

Mod one of your AT2Ks, and use your Maverick as a sidearm. Maverick mod

Alternatively, the NiteFinder is an excellent sidearm, with almost double the range of the Mav, at the expense of ROF. You can find the NF at TRU, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. Here's a mod

The BBB is an excellent primary, however it's more suited to losing, which you said you don't do. Also I'd recommend holding off on modding a BBB until you have practiced some on some cheaper and more readily available guns, that way you'll be sure to do a good job on the BBB.

Hey dude, welcome to the site. I don't think you really need to worry about wich gun to use, but it sounds like an Airtech 3000 would fit you pretty well. You can find a PETG mod for it in this sites "Modifacations" section. Have fun with nerf!

yeah, I've done the Maverick Clip mod, thanks. My second mod involved
a Scout IX-3; I took out air restrictors, added a small 3 inch PVC barrel, and
shot a the first stefan I made. I had about a 50% range increase.

For the stefans, should I use plastic BBs? That was all I had sitting around
but I heard from other people I should use fishing weights.

I origionally used one metal bb. Thought this was too light, so I tried two metal bb's. This was alright weight-wise but a lot harder to get the dart to fly straight because the weight was always not dead center. So I got some fishing weights about the size of a bb and they work rather well.

So yeah, fishing weights tends to be a good idea but whatever works.

First Off, Welcome to the Haven, seccond I agree with Halfling on this one, The At3k sounds like your style, you can get a two pack at Toys-R-Us for $20, The do work best with Petg or brass, but they mod pretty nice with good ol' crayola barrels.

When it comes to stefans, lead is the best way to add weight to your darts, fishing weights or lead shot, which is used in shotgun shells pn for ballancing model airplanes and boats also works well.
