Alright, many of you know that I love my Mavrick more than any other sidearm I have and wanted to improve the performance and overall style of the blaster. Well here is the finished product.

Man does this pic make my hand look small.

It has the air restrictors and pegs removed, just standard mods. I was going to perform the modification that allows the turret to be pulled out further but could not find it and was too urgent to finish it. I may do it later but I don't really feel the need to. I then replaced the spring that I got from what I now believe to be a Ratchet Blast. Instead of reinforcing the shell of the gun, I decided to add some padding where the plunger shaft hit the shell to lessen stress on the case, along with reducing the noise of the gun dramatically. I then painted it and well that's it. I still have some touch-ups to do with the paint but nothing major.

I am very satisfied with the performance. It gets around 60-65' flat but I have't done any official range testes yet due to weather problems. I was making one of Black Wrath’s holsters for it but before I could tape it, my basement flooded and a bunch of my stuff including the holster got wet. Well anyway, that’s it.

Post numero dos hundred. yay.

1/2 & 1/2, My local TRU sells them for about $7.00, I think, as does my Target. You may also be able to find them elsewhere though.

Nice duce. That is one of the coolest paintjobs on a Mav I've ever seen. I love that whitish-beighish-type color. It's perfect with the black. I wish I didn't majorly suck at painting things.

Theres no way that gets 60-65' flat no matter how big of a spring you put in. A nite finder gets those ranges. The paint job looks very nice though.

My NiteFinder gets 60-70, so I can see a Maverick with a new spring getting close to that.

Especially since he said "no official ranges yet." He's just estimating.

There is anoter post over at NerfHQ that some says, with replacing a spring, gets 60-70'. I am really not surprised, because I always thought the mav was a powerful little gun, and it just need a new spring.

I've always thought the Maverick had a lot of potential, but never knew what to do with it. Could you give me an estimate on the size of the spring so I can see if I can find one similar?

7.99$, K-mart, in Michigan.

what you used to paint it and how you went about painting it

Just regular 2$ flat black and flat white spray paint from any hardware store. I took the gun apart and sprayed the sheel all black then took all the other stuff and painted it all white, really simple and easy.

Actually, my NF gets more like 70-75' and I measured in my house the Mav distance. It hit 5' up on my wall at a good velocity after traveling 50' so I'd say those ranges are fairly accurate.

Yeah thats me.

Could you give me an estimate on the size of the spring so I can see if I can find one similar?

The spring is almost the exact same diameter as the stock spring and bout 1-1.5'' longer. The guage (thickness) of the spring was a good amount larger and I'd say it twice as strong. The resistance when cocking the gun is much greater and the noise is alot louder.

Thats the coolest Maverick i've seen.

Thanks. :)

You probably didn't find my mod because you didn't search NHQ, here it is. Looks pretty good, good to see another supporter of the Mav.

In my previous attempts to paint blasters that have a sliding handle for a cocking or pumping mechanism, the paint catches and wears down over time along the slide. Is this the case for you?

Yeah but it's not too bad. There are two scratches appearing beneath the slide and one on the trigger but thats about it.

It matches the Warhammer 40K Space Marine Dark Templar paint scheme.

On a scale of 1-10 Ill give it a 5. Doesnt look that great to me. The white parts look more off-white or cream colored and theres some scratches already. Just two solid colors with no detailing just doesnt look right to me.

I do like how the black looks though.
