I'm pretty darn sure I've seen one of these topics before, but when I searched for it, I couldn't find it. Anyway, I went to my local ACE hardware store and couldn't find any brass piping. Which stores and where in them can I find brass? Thanks.

You need to learn to use the search feature properly then (proper perameters), because there are plenty of topics about places where brass can be located. Just to give you a point in the right direction, it's sold at many hobby shops, as well as online stores. It can be hard to find, but try those places; most hardware stores don't carry brass.

If you are looking in an ACE try asking an older employee who has worked there a while. Often younger/newer employee's will have no idea, even if the store carries it. Second be sure to ask for K&S brass. A product with a name will make it easier for employee's to help you.

I've only seen brass at hobby shops, and the only one that had 9/16 was really old and had the stuff for several years. So far they haven't re-stocked it since I bought it a few months ago.

Also, look at small custom metal shops, I can't really explain them or give an example. I recently was in a small shop that only carries metal and plastics and found a large selection of brass tubing in any imaginable size. I was very pleased.

You can also get it online. The first two options for 9/16 are the same thing but different lengths. Don't order the third option, it's extremely heavy compared to the other brass. There is no third option for 17/32 so don't worry about that, they are the same thing just different lengths.

It might be me, but I don't understand how you're supposed to nest 9/16" of brass barrel inside 1/2" PVC. Isn't 9/16" bigger? Maybe I just have my numbers mixed up...

1/2" PVC is actually 5/8" ID. 9/16" brass is 9/16" OD, 17/32" ID.
