The shells are 3 1/4" long and yes, they just have section of 1/2" couplers on them.I'm not sure if you said anything about the shells but how long are they? Do they just have peices of couplers on them?

There is really no mathematical process for it. If you are cutting the pipe to make a custom angle....like the bottom portion of the stock.... then the angle you cut needs to be the same for each pipe otherwise the joint will not line up. If you are making a cut to butt it a section of pipe...liek where the pistol grip joins the receiver or where the lower portion of the stock meets the lower receiver.....then you need to cut it long to account for the curvature. The mitre cuts you can cut with a mitre saw or justt freehand it with a dremel like I do. You`ll get good at judging where and how much to cut over time. Here's a question...when you cut pvc and have to fit it, such as with the stock, do you just eyeball the shape of the pipe it's being fitted to, or is there some kind of mathmatical process to getting a good cut. To avoid making multiple parts because of mistakes I usually rough cut a piece large and then slowly remove material until it fits like I want it.

Finally broke something today. Took about 300 rounds. Nothing major. The tang that retain the ejector broke and it came out. I didn`t notice until the round failed to eject. It was an easy fix. I actually made a few extra ejectors in case it happens again during a battle. Other than that the entire rifle is still going strong.
The next thing I would like to do is to make another bolt set that will use CO2 rather than the spring. The spring and plunger gives great ranges and I am more than happy with it. Don`t get me wrong. I jsut figure why not..... It should be pretty easy to make another bolt group that could be simply swapped out for the spring/plunger setup to convert between the two. With the CO2 I would expect to get ranges a little less than my previous rifle due to the shorter barrel....maybe 130 ft. Of course I could always make a longer barrel that could be swapped out as well.
I get to try out this thing this weekend. I`ll be sure to let you know how it performs in battle.

The plans are coming. I`m putting together an Excel file with detailed drawings of each component as well as some tips and notes. Should be done shortly.Aw crap, I was thinking of making something with co2. Oh well. Are you going to post plans soon or are you going to keep us waiting in awe?

At some point during the night I hit something that cracked the balsa that makes the sides of the magwell. Didin`t effect the finctioning of the riflle....jsut cosmetic....but it did piss me off. Already fixed and touched up so no biggie.
My team dominated the other team like 11-4. Not that it matters We all had fun though. I can`t wait to do it again and try the rifle in a bigger area.....like outside.

I wouldn`t call it a "big war"...only 8 guys. The only other homemade we had to use was the CO2 rifle which we unanimously decided was unsafe. Aside from me everyone else had genuine Nerf guns.....modified.....but Nerf.Awesome bolt. Were there any other homemades in play or all actual Nerfs? That sounds sweet. I haven't been to a big war in so long...

-- Moved the front action spring mount forward to create a stronger pull on the bolt.
-- Added a section of 1/2" CPVC to the rear of the plunger. The spring rides over this section and it helps to prevent the spring from buckling.
-- New rear site with a smaller aperature
-- Wrapped the pistol grip and fore-end eith electrical tape to give it more grip
-- Added sling mounts and a sling
-- Mounted 2 more receiver cover mounts to increase rigidity of the receiver cover when optics are mounted.
-- Lengthened charging handle for easier/faster operation
-- Mounted an inexpensive red dot scope.
Current Configuration
I`m still working on the plans and they are about 2/3 done. I am trying to be as thorough as possible. I am writing them up in Excel and will post the file as soon as I`m done.

I can understand if you are 12 and have your own PC (lucky bastards) and not having Office or Excel. But I would think their parents PC would. The groups of people who have to pay for it and people who don't have it are remarkably similar in size.I didn`t think there was anyone who didn`t have MS Office nowadays......
